Continuing the summer of cinema horror is the return of David Bruckner who has featured quite a bit on this show already through his work on Creepshow, Southbound and The Ritual. The Night House looks to scare the pants off us whilst also portraying an interesting story with some genuine emotion sprinkled in there for good measure. Elsewhere this week; a new docuseries is coming to Shudder that focuses on the classic horror icons. V/H/S/94 gets a release date. And we end the show by rounding up our thoughts on the first season of American Horror Stories, Matt has continued his journey through David Cronenberg’s filmography and we both get very excited for Candyman next week.

Back in the cinema where we belong for the follow up to our number one film of 2016; Don’t Breathe 2. We’ve been pretty nervous about this one since it’s initial announcement as the original is a perfect film that didn’t need a sequel but we also felt the same way about A Quiet Place and we all know how that turned out. Can this sequel surprise us after a not so great trailer just like Old did? Let’s find out. It’s time to end this. All trilogies must inevitably end with a part three that hopefully serves as both a satisfying conclusion to the overall story as well as being a good standalone entry in it’s own right. Fear Street’s final part takes us all the way back to 1666 with the true origin of Sarah Fier as well as finally tie up the story we are still waiting to see conclude in 1994. We give our verdict on this final chapter and the trilogy overall in what is certainly one of the most interesting horror releases of 2021. Elsewhere this week; Stranger Things sadly won’t be making this year. Mike Flanagan returns with Midnight Mass next month. A whole bunch of horror classics are coming to 4K for the first time. And ending this week we give our thoughts on American Horror Stories so far ahead of AHS: Double Feature coming just around the corner.

Completing this recent trifecta of cinema horror films is a sequel to 2019’s Escape Room that  was pretty forgettable to say the least. Can this second entry better the first and leave the franchise with some level of excitement or go out with a whimper? We give our verdict and discuss why Escape Rooms are so damn fun. For our summer vacation we are taking a trip to the beach with the latest adventure from M. Night Shyamalan after his massive return to form over recent years. But after a fairly uninspiring trailer; here’s hoping the film over-delivers on it’s simple premise and gives us another great sci-fi horror film to sink our teeth into. Elsewhere this week; on perhaps our longest news section ever, we have a ton of new trailers to go over including Malignant, Chucky and Demonic. Jordan Peele’s next horror film gets a poster which provides us with plenty of small details to obsess over. The third season of the brilliant Creepshow gets a premiere date. And Army of the Dead gets a confirmed sequel.

The cinema is back. After a few weeks away from the big screen with Netflix keeping up busy with some great releases; it is time to return to our rightful home. Nothing beats cinema horror and hopefully The Forever Purge is more A Quiet Place Part II than it is Spiral. We’ve covered this franchise across film and TV for the last 5 years and we go in depth on the franchise overall as well as give our verdict on this latest entry. The middle part of the trilogy. Sometimes where you can let loose and have fun and not have to worry about setting things up too much or making sure you deliver a satisfying payoff. But also can be the least interesting part of the story and contain lots of filler. How will this middle chapter hold up? After a fantastic run of new horror films (finally), we have decided to return to our ongoing Ranking Wes Craven series before getting back to business in a very busy looking July. This week is the first Wes Craven film we’ve discussed that neither of us has ever seen before. What did we make of our first time viewing of Swamp Thing in 2021 and did we overlook this film for so long or made a wise choice to avoid it? We give our verdict on definitely the most bizarre Craven film we’ve covered so far. Elsewhere this week; Halloween Kills finally gets a proper trailer and boy does Michael do some killing in this one. Arrow Video announce a fantastic upcoming box set. And ending the show Matt continues his quest for personal Cronenberg redemption; this time discussing Videodrome.
