A comedy horror centred around the hell that is Black Friday is a perfect premise and with some added Bruce Campbell for good measure surely you can’t mess this up? With just one big cinema horror release left for the year and a few weeks to fill before then; we go back to a film that has been on our backlog for many months. Demonic sees the return of Neil Blomkamp in a much smaller project than we’re used to with this director with a concept that blends sci-fi and horror in a very Black Mirror-esque way. We give our verdict on one of the last films before we send off this year in style. Whilst we’re not ready to fully move on from Last Night in Soho mentally just yet we must as the train keeps rolling on with yet another cinema horror release that actually came out the same day. Antlers has been one of the most heavily delayed genre releases of recent years and has finally hit the big screen and promises some original horror in the form of an emotionally driven creature feature. We dissect this, at times, intentionally depressing film and give our verdict on whether it was worth the long wait or not. The biggest horror TV release of the year is here. Mike Flanagan is back and after already featuring on 3 of our year end top 10 lists already and giving us one of the best TV shows of all time in The Haunting of Hill House we couldn’t be anymore excited for his latest venture in the TV space. Midnight Mass is his dream project and after over 10 years of trying to get it made it’s finally here. Let’s hope he can deliver once again. We’d been saving this one for a while but it’s finally time to discuss what is undoubtedly a horror classic. Our Ranking Wes Craven series is about to go up a level as we discuss what still makes A Nightmare on Elm Street one of the most perfect horror films ever made. We also have to place it on our ranking so far and with Scream currently on the top spot this is definitely a case where we have to pick who our favourite child is. A slight change of pace this week as the cinema isn’t offering us any new horror delights for a few weeks so we are tackling our backlog of films on digital services starting with a film that had a super interesting premise and trailer from earlier this year. Profile is the latest ‘screenlife’ film to arrive and after loving other recent films within this subgenre such as Host and Spree we were hoping this thriller could deliver on it’s very unique and timely story. Elsewhere this week; The Lost Boys is seemingly returning to the big screen. Del Toro tells us his next film is NOT a horror film (though the trailer suggests otherwise). Ending the show we did watch a horror classic on the big screen over the past weekend and Mike finally finished watching The Stand.
