June 18, 2020RLRx: Resistance Training In Older Adults – Effects On Muscle Function and Osteoarthritis with Ronnie MiloSHR # 2538 :: RLRx: Resistance Training In Older Adults – Effects On Muscle Function and Osteoarthritis with Ronnie Milo - As we age the composition of our muscles change leading impaired muscle function. Many older adults suffer from osteoarthritis that makes them unable to exercise. As they move less, muscle function gets worse. Especially in the prime-movers lie the legs. Eventually this leads to inability to walking stability and falling. We look at two studies when taken together show that that degradation can be reversed by resistance exercise and moving more. Exercise also positively affects osteoarthritis symptoms making moving more easier. This may be the final word on "do we age because we move less or do we move less because we age". And this is an amazing opportunity for personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches....more1h 1minPlay
June 17, 2020What Did We Learn: The Aftermath of a Media BlackoutSHR # 2537 :: What Did We Learn: The Aftermath of a Media Blackout - Dr. Judy Mikovits - In May I did a show with Dr. Judy Mikovits about her new documentary Plandemic. Many people took issue with many of the things Dr. Mikovitz said. The internet exploded upon her taking down post and shows she did in favor for anyone and everyone who would disagree with her. When you see this much of a coordinated effort it should make you wonder why. What was said that was so inflammatory that all media outlets felt the need to quash it? Every day there are dissenting opinions in science that do not elicit this gravity of response. One are where there is little room for disagreement is politics however. Is that what this is all about? Whistle-blowers receive all sorts of protection in the scientific arena. They do not, however, in the world of politics. Are our nations politicians trying to cover up something? We look back at the statements and assertions Dr. Mikovits made and see how right or wrong she was. Hindsight is 20-20....more1h 11minPlay

June 11, 2020Dose-response Effects of Protein Intake on Muscle Protein Synthesis During Recovery from Endurance ExerciseSHR # 2535 :: Dose-response Effects of Protein Intake on Muscle Protein Synthesis During Recovery from Endurance Exercise - Prof. Luc J.C. van Loon, Ph.D - The anabolic window has been well understood in recovery after resistance training for some time now. We've also understood that protein intake within that window increases the protein synthetic response to training. What is less understood is the effects of protein intake after endurance exercise and how it affects post-workout protein synthetic response. This study aimed to determine the effect of graded doses of dietary protein co-ingested with carbohydrate on whole-body protein metabolism, and skeletal muscle myofibrillar (MyoPS) and mitochondrial (MitoPS) protein synthesis rates during recovery from endurance exercise....more1h 15minPlay
June 10, 2020Efficacy of Glutathione Therapy in Treating COVID-19 Related Pneumonia PLUS 62 And None The WiserSHR # 2534 :: Efficacy of Glutathione Therapy in Treating COVID-19 Related Pneumonia PLUS 62 And None The Wiser - Dr. Richard Horowitz, MD - Infection with COVID-19 potentially can result in severe outcomes and death from cytokine storm syndrome, resulting in novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) with severe dyspnea, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), fulminant myocarditis and multiorgan dysfunction with or without disseminated intravascular coagulation. No published treatment to date has been shown to adequately control the inflammation and respiratory symptoms associated with COVID-19, apart from oxygen therapy and assisted ventilation. We evaluated the effects of using high dose oral and or IV glutathione in the treatment of 2 patients with dyspnea secondary to COVID-19 pneumonia. PLUS Carl turns 62 tomorrow. Is he older and wiser? Maybe not....more1h 23minPlay

June 08, 2020New Hope for ACL Injuries PLUS GHRP6 to Cure GERDSHR # 2532 :: New Hope for ACL Injuries PLUS GHRP6 to Cure GERD - Dr. Lindsey Lepley, PhD, ATC - Joe Christiano - Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are one of the most common injuries people sustain. The ACL is one of the key ligaments that help stabilize your knee joint. The ACL connects your thighbone (femur) to your shinbone (tibia). It's most commonly torn during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction, but more and more people are suffering injuries to the ACL. A new study shows adding eccentric exercises could improve physical therapy outcomes. PLUS GERD is a common condition in our population. Typical therapies include antacids, proton pump inhibitors and in extreme cases, surgery to tighten the esophageal sphincter. What if using the common peptide GHRP6 actually fixes the problem?...more1h 13minPlay
June 04, 2020RLRx: Anabolic Steroid Excess and Myocardial Infarction PLUS Very-Low-Carbohydrate Ketogenic Diet in Acromegaly TreatmentSHR # 2531 :: RLRx: Anabolic Steroid Excess and Myocardial Infarction PLUS Very-Low-Carbohydrate Ketogenic Diet in Acromegaly Treatment - Adam Lamb - Steroid hormones like testosterone and it's synthetic derivatives have been shown in studies to make the heart stronger. Supraphysiologic doses are tied to a variety of morphological changes to the heart that are detrimental. When a heart attack occurs having a really strong heart becomes one of those detriments. PLUS There have been lots of discussions about how the strict high fat low protein-carb keto diet the hormones that help muscle to grow. While this study is on a type of hormonal dysregulation – Agromegaly – it points a fine point on how growth hormone and IGF-1 are modulated by the diet and what that may mean if you are trying to increase both tissue turnover and protein synthesis....more1h 9minPlay
