It's the season one finale, and Avatar has officially come into its own, like a caterpillar tadpole coming out of its cocoon as a beautiful butterfrog. That's good news, provided that you like hearing three ostensible adults freak out about cartoons. We cover all the bases: Zuko's gradual de-villainization, Ben realizing that the Undertale meme skeletons are fonts, Spirit World shenanigans, Diddy's Kong Quest, when exactly a dying Jedi becomes intangible, Azula, cats, Handsome Squidward and more! Also: we have officially debuted our brand spankin' new Super Nuclear Group logo! Visit us on Twitter and/or Discord to see for yourself. ===

Good news, everyone! We heard your complaint about there not being enough year-end holidays and have magnanimously decided that December 8th is Super Nuclear Day. You may curry favor with our traditional mascots, the Super Alpaca and Gnuclear Gnome, by supporting us on Patreon. Good fortune is sure to follow.

In this episode, Katara does some badass stuff, Zhao does some bad stuff (and is an ass), and we talk about a horrible nightmare we all had were M. Night Shyamalan made a terrible movie based on this awesome cartoon. We also talk about Hades, laugh at superstitious yokels, and look at the single worst tweet ever made by anyone, ever.

Apologies for the wait, everyone! Moving and life got in the way but we are BACK!

Welcome back to The Avatar Recycle, the show where we talk about our cats and then, if we have time, Avatar. In this episode, Mary moves down the street, Ben moves across the country, and David stays right the fuck where he is, because in an ever-changing world, it's nice to have a little stability. You're welcome.

It's the first part of the two-part season finale, wherein our merry gang of goofuses travels to the north pole to fight sexism. Iroh sings, Zuko dies, Wakko packs away the snacks, and there is a very real chance that your dad isn't actually your dad.

Donald Trump slowly shrinks and transforms into a corn cob. Ben's mother humiliates him in front of the host of Nickelodeon's Slime Time Live. David crushes his own mother's dreams of being a showbiz mom. Mary roasts her dad's exceptionally dadly qualities. And on Avatar, some kid has to cope with the fact that his dad is in bed with the fantasy reich. That's right, it's an episode all about the trials and tribulations of family relationships. (And moreover, Donald Trump losing.) === First, deep apologies for how late this episode is coming out. I (Mary) was moving this past week, and between packing and everything else time and energy to edit was tough to find. But I'm all moved now and ready to handle anything! Second, there will be no new episode this coming Tuesday/Wednesday. This is because, at this same time, Ben is ALSO moving! And his move is cross-country, so he'll be out of commission for a bit. We'll be back on the 24th/25th with more Avatar Recyclin' glory! This time it is David who will not be with us for this one, and Jess who will rise to the occasion and take his place as we take on a SURPRISINGLY intense ATLA episode! All the more so for Mary, because she never saw it the first time round.

What does that mean for you all? A whole lot of well deserved slamming on Heart of Darkness, the secrets of Ben's clown heritage, Aang's best Cornholio impression, and so, so many stories about cats.

Content warnings for discussions of racism and colonialism. As well as cat poop, and spoilers for Death Note.

This episode is all about trust, in the sense that it betrayed ours by being kinda crappy and on-the-nose, as well as having uncomfortable sexual undertones. And speaking of that, watch us revive old Homestuck memes you hoped to never see again! (At least Sokka gets to be smart in this one.)

The Super Nuclear Group would also like to remind our fellow dirty, smelly Yanks to vote, vote, vote! For Joe Biden if at all possible, or failing that, for the D next to his name. We love Joe Biden's D. Can't get enough of it, really.

We also talk Simpsons, Machine of Death, and Reylos, who are all a bunch of [VERY LOVELY PEOPLE].

(Also, apologies for the delay getting this one up - it's been a busy week! Also also, Mary is indeed okay - my coughing stopped shortly after the episode ended and it hasn't come back!) === Click here for some bad cat advice: https://preview.redd.it/kxoan399fit51.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=8ba2347fa70e629bc1fe5055b12d2838aa035523 Click for a pixelated boat: https://64.media.tumblr.com/e047c901d7de8d231b06ef3df20c378a/tumblr_onbty95zwd1uex49zo1_1280.jpg === Here are some of the best resources at hand right now to educate yourself, donate/generate ad revenue, and protect Black lives and Black safety: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ Homeless Black Trans Women Fund - https://www.gofundme.com/f/homeless-black-trans-women-fund?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet === Follow us on Twitter at @super_nuclear, or send us your feedback at [email protected] ! This is one of those cartoon episodes that tries to be about faith vs. empiricism, but in a way that doesn't piss off any homeschool moms and/or the ACLU. Surprisingly, it doesn't suck, and in fact taught us a very valuable lesson. It taught us what platypuses eat. (It's pebbles and small mollusks, apparently.) Join us as we discuss our favorite flowers, poke some well-deserved fun at the British, an exhibit an appreciation for Aunt Wu that, at times, pokes a toe over the line into low-key thirst. === Check out Jess's many works at https://beachghost.carrd.co/ ! In this episode, the role of Ben is played by our good friend Jess, but don't worry, we're definitely not classing up the joint! Much merriment is had discussing the rare and elusive Sugondese frogs. (Would you suck on them? Tell us in the comments!) We also discover that the crazy old people of the Avatar universe are a lot less racist than ours.

This episode involves Aang and Iroh telling heartbreaking stories of past trauma whilst they and their friends huddle around a campfire. Celebrate the occasion by listening to three nerds talk about My Big Fat Greek Wedding whilst hunched over their computers. Be warned: this episode contains more vagina references and discussion than the average Super Nuclear production. (We feel that we really outdid ourselves this time).

Note: We ended up recording this over the course of two days because Mary's throat got too sore to continue the first time. Ben's audio is a little fuzzy on the first day - apologies for that!

(And apologies for the delay as well. Time and time again, I swear I've uploaded this episode! TAR #13 will be out tomorrow.)
