Super Nuclear Presents

Ah yes, here we are. One of the Famously Bad episodes of Avatar, which means it would be a low average in any other show. Even as we try not to judge it by its reputation and/or memes, we still find it... condescending? A bit tone deaf? Paints centrists as the real victims? We're not quite sure what they're actually trying to say here.

But it's okay that this one's a bit of a stinker, because on our end, MARY GOT A CAT! Say hello to Ness, of whom pictures can absolutely be found on our Twitter. And stick around to listen as we avoid talking about this episode by any means necessary, including crabs, "Weed la Weed," and the the Adam Sandler movies we maybe tolerate.

First and foremost I have to deeply DEEPLY apologize for the lateness of this episode, I had it and it was up on Patreon and I just straight up forgot to put it on the main feed. ._. Thank you all for your patience!

Welcome to the Secret Tunnel, the Rec Room-alike where we take a break from painstakingly recapping a show in order to talk about side material, fan ephemera, and really just whatever the heck we want. This time, we're diving deep into the world of New Avatar Memes, which we are so very grateful for, and sharing some character tidbits from the artbook... But first, let's talk about Code Lyoko! It's coming to French Netflix (the only real Netflix, according to the French), and you'd better believe we have opinions on that. Delight as we surprise you with more facts about Noam Kaniel than you could possibly be interested in. Then, we dive into the one topic you've always wanted to hear about: how flying bison do it. You perv. === Some of the posts we discussed in the episode: https://zuko-just-wants-his-honor.tumblr.com/post/628634033264410624/atla-characters-as-masks-pt-2 https://babyitsbirdoutside.tumblr.com/post/625154756764106752/look-i-refuse-to-believe-this-hasnt-been-done https://katywrites-sometimes.tumblr.com/post/624907458804137984/this-is-all-i-have-to-offer https://zukosgarbitch.tumblr.com/post/620392824184176640/its-tiktoks-like-this-that-dont-make-me-regret Weed City post: https://gayavatarstyle.tumblr.com/post/185035801515/i-get-that-being-frozen-for-100-years-is-a-tough Click here to find out more about the spotted bat!: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_bat === Here are some of the best resources at hand right now to educate yourself, donate/generate ad revenue, and protect Black lives and Black safety: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ Homeless Black Trans Women Fund - https://www.gofundme.com/f/homeless-black-trans-women-fund?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet === Follow us on Twitter at @super_nuclear, or send us your feedback at [email protected] ! Listeners, hide your bananas, cause we're about to meet some guerillas.

This episode is all about Jet, the freedom fighter dude who is definitely NOT literally just Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, and Jess is here to discuss how cool his hook swords are and whether or not he would vape in real life (he would). Also, in light of all the strongly-worded emails we've recently received, we've decided to bring back Vriskourse. Lucky you!

A couple of notes:

- There are minor ATLA spoilers at 1:58:15.

- We learned about Chadwick Boseman's death while recording, and discussed it for several minutes. This begins at 1:02:30.

Join your Super Nuclear pals for a lively discussion on whether bare man ass is allowed on Nickelodeon. That's right: it's an episode all about pirate booty! Arrgh! And when you're done listening send us an email! Would YOU eat cabbage that the cabbage merchant had lovingly rubbed on his unshaven face? Would YOU buy a box from a horse-faced man with lipstick that may or may not contain a corpse (the box, not the man)? Happy belated vore day, everyone! And speaking of vore day, Aang's quest to stop the Fire Lord is a little bit like googling that: he's not gonna like what he sees, but may learn something about himself and walk away profoundly changed. In particular, he's going to learn that he has exactly nine months to learn three lifetimes' worth of bending.

This episode also gives us the birth of Inventor Sokka, an important facet of his character that'll help us later! Also, Ben's cat gets cancelled.

In this episode, the former half of our very first two-parter, Iroh gets naked, Aang wrestles a bear, and the Super Nuclear Group waxes poetic about America's two favorite underdogs: Jeb Bush and Scrappy Doo! Think we can't prattle about this for three straight hours? Click and be amazed!

Hey, remember that one funny meme where Live-Action Aang reminds a group of earthbenders that they are earthbenders? And then they do a choreographed dance routine that results in a single baseball-sized rock to float slowly across the screen? This is the episode that scene was based on. Surprise! It's much better with funny cartoon people.

Another thing the live-action movie didn't have: George Takei! Here, he features as a prison warden who sounds exactly like Vincent Price. Or maybe George Takei always sounds like that.

Hello, everyone! This is the first episode of what will from here on be a Patreon-exclusive podcast for donors at the $5 and up level! We hope you enjoy this trip into the glory that is SBT!

===

Long ago, in 2010, Cartoon Network gave us something very special: a new Genndy Tartakovsky show, in their classic house style of the mid to late nineties. It may have been overshadowed by the shows with the stretchy dog and the hipster bluebird, but Sym-Bionic Titan was something special. And then, when the world needed it most, they canceled it.

Join us as we recap the best darn fusion of John Hughes and giant mecha anime that Cartoon Network ever swept under the rug. The story of an alien princess, her bodyguard, their robot buddy, and a hat that may or may not be evil in a quadrangle of trouble.

Along the way, Ben accidentally convinces David that Little Caesar's is banned in New York, David accidentally convinces Mary that Popeye is owned by the Kinks, and Michael accidentally believes he is allowed in the bookshelf.

===

A quick note on TAR Episode 4: The expression "X has two hands" refers only to holding hands, and is not a euphemism for anything else. We apologize for the confusion.

This episode is all about King [NAME REDACTED]. But we're not supposed to say his name. We say it dozens of times anyway. And no, for once, it's not K*maeda.

But we don't just laugh at our own incompetence. We also laugh at silly internet videos, pausing only to groan at some puns. And somewhere in there, there's some Avatar discussion too.

This episode takes the Gaang to Kyoshi Island, where Sokka learns respect-women-bending from cool new character Suki. Longtime friend of the show Jess joins us yet again to discuss this and other topics tangentially related to grrrl powah, including: skipping your school's water park trip to watch Avatar, air nomad tourists with fanny packs and floral print robes, Swears for the Classy Gent, and the saga of Dave, the lazy painter of Kyoshi Island.
