SuperCoach Champions

Apologies for the late upload but both Catfish and Bear are sick and rundown this week - however we still wanted to get this out as we break down Round 16 in great detail - the "Must-Haves" (including the players who may make you pee your pants if you don't own them), the "Players of Difference" and finally, a nuff breakdown including the best nuffs to get for this round (if you really have to nuff).

We also discuss the strategy around how to best plan your trades for this week and also for Round 17 - and Catfish breaks down how he changed his original trades after reviewing and planning ahead for which players may get rested, where he will need cover for next week and considering which option will actually give his team more points across Round 16 and 17 as a whole.

Thank you as always for your kind reviews and ratings, we really do appreciate them all! And we did mention our Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/NRLSC_Champions - please have a browse and see if you want to get involved!

Five trades... FIVE! With so many trades there's even more decisions to make than usual. Bear and Catfish try help sift through some of the drama with some reminders on how to prepare for your trade plans this week, whether Tommy Turbo is really worth it for this week, how much positional coverage you may need for the run home, and of course, those NUFFS for Round 16!

Of course we ride the Hype Train and look at players like Matterson, SJ, Taukeiaho (again), Cam Smith, Latrell, Maumalo and others. We also answer some of your Twitter questions too.

It's the Representative Round and the NRL - and SuperCoach - competition takes a two week break to enjoy some international rugby league and of course, Game Two of the 2019 State of Origin series. So while there aren't any team lists and lockout is still over a week away, the Champions have decided to do introduce "the Champys" - our cheesy rip-off of the Logies and the Emmys and we're doing a Mid-Season version, and we'll definitely do a post-season awards ceremony as well.

It's all just a bit of fun but listen in as we honour the winners and honourable mentions in a variety of categories ranging from the "Rookie of the Year (So Far)", the "Mid-Season MVP", the "2011 Corey Parker" Award, the "What if?" Awards and others. We'll be back to usual programming next week as we really ramp up preparations for Round 15/16 though once the fallout from rep round, and the Round 15 teamlists, is a bit clearer!

Round 14 is proving quite a conundrum for bye planning and trade purposes - we've got a huge episode this week to help with that though.

Bear and Catfish both share their insight in their respective winning seasons; strategically, what were some of the best moves to make as well as what some of the potential traps and pitfalls were during this critical period of the season. We also look in-depth at some Round 16 coverage options - specifically players that may not be impacted by the upcoming representative round (the second Origin game and the Pacific Tests) and other critical questions like, to RTS or not to RTS this week!

Of course we have the usual Hype Train and Cheap Cheap segments where we look at players like Bateman, Taukeiaho, Staggs, Aitken, Host and others. We also answer some of your Twitter questions including whether or not it's good or bad to have too many players from one NRL team, and plenty more!

As promised, a second episode this week post-Origin! Speaking of Origin... well, how about them Queenslanders, eh? To celebrate an awesome win for the good guys, we got another proud Queenslander on as a special guest this week to rub it in Bear's face, and who better than the 2017 SuperCoach Champion BanyoBoy a.k.a. Sam Rohlf! Sam is killing it this year after a bit of a rough season last year, and he shares a bit about his season so far, and also his insight into how to approach this week with all the uncertainty of who will and won't back up from Origin.

We also answer some of your Twitter questions including considering Smith vs McInnes, best replacements at 5/8 for Ponga, and other crazy ideas like selling Ponga and Munster.

Well, what a round huh? The good news is that we survived, and really it's a good opportunity to regroup and reflect a little on the 2019 season. The Champions are here extra early this week to look back at the highs and lows of their respective seasons thus far, as well as looking at the one thing they have each learned about this SuperCoach season that has been different to previous years. We also consider how far behind you can be and still be a realistic (or even an unrealistic) shot of winning this year, and also start looking forward towards Round 16.

As you can imagine we won't be recording on Wednesday night because one of either Bear or Catfish would be too devastated (or inebriated) to speak after Game One of the State of Origin! However we plan to do a quick follow-up on Thursday to talk about the wash-up from Origin, the plans we will put in place for our teams to consider who should back up and who won't, and also to answer some of your Twitter questions.
