For the rest of the month of May and part of June, we will be discussing legendary Japanese filmmaker/auteur Hayao Miyazaki in an event we are calling Mayazaki! In the first part of this series we discuss one of our favorite films, the underrated classic Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind. For our 50th (ish) Episode, we celebrate two years of podcast with the latest film in the MCU, Avengers: Infinity War. The catch of the day here on Supercultured is The Little Mermaid! No, not that one, this is the 1975 anime version of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale that Lauren fished out of the briny deep for us to watch. There are some similarities with the 1989 Disney version though, and some of us here at Supercultured think it may have been on porpoise. Join us for a deep dive as we travel the ocean with Marina and Fritz and learn about Denmark via Japan and how you are supposed to treat living things. We'll have a whale of a time!

This week on Supercultured we discuss the latest in what now can be called the Star Wars Extended Cinematic Universe, and that movie is Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It's the first Star War we have discussed at length on the podcast and we are more excited than a Wookie on Life Day. Join us as we drink tea and discuss the finer points of Episode 8 while lifting rocks with our minds.
