  • Ocean Springs police are looking for suspects in a shooting outside a bar early Sunday
Ocean Springs police are looking for suspects in a shooting that took place early Sunday morning outside the Salty Peach Bar.
According to investigators, a driver honked at an unknown person standing in a parking space around 2:50 a.m., which led to a physical altercation. The driver returned to his vehicle and left the area, traveling west on Government Street. As the car turned onto Washington Avenue, the occupants allegedly heard gunshots and spotted a vehicle turning behind them. No one in the car was hurt, and police say damage to that vehicle is consistent with being struck by a bullet.

  • Attorney challenging the legality of speeding tickets in Moss Point
A bill that would have banned the use of camera-aided radar systems failed in the last legislative session, but the issue keeps coming up. Moss Point police have been using handheld radar cameras since June 2024. Instead of a police officer pulling you over and filling out a ticket, a third-party company sends the driver a ticket in the mail. Attorney David Futch told WLOX News that he represents more than 150 clients who have received a ticket in the mail from a third-party company on behalf of the City of Moss Point. Futch says the ticket can’t be paid at court or at the police department, and there is no record of the violations existing outside of the third-party company. Futch has an active federal lawsuit against the ticket system.
