No injuries were reported following the damage to the state's oldest prison. The Crossroads District is expected to be a popular spot for Starkville visitors.

It's amazing there were no injuries in a dangerous high-speed chase in Oxford on Monday night. An officer tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 334 for traffic violations. The driver initially pulled over, but sped away as the officer approached. 39-year-old Kelsey Jennings of Ocean Springs drove the wrong way into oncoming lanes during the pursuit, hitting another vehicle but not stopping. He continued traveling in the wrong direction, and when his car became disabled from the crash, he fled on foot.

Officers captured him near a home on Buchanan Avenue.

A state of emergency has been declared in North Carolina as Hurricane Erin whips up huge waves and life-threatening rip currents.

The storm weakened to a Category 2 storm on Tuesday as its north side battled winds, but the National Hurricane Center says the storm has reformed an inner eye wall. A Hurricane Hunter mission this morning will help determine if winds have increased.

Hurricane Erin continues to move north alongside the East Coast ... expanding to over 600 miles wide ... though it has weakened to a Category 2 storm.

A federal judge has ordered Mississippi to redraw its Supreme Court electoral map, finding that the current map dilutes the voting power of Black voters. Aycock’s ruling notes that only four Black people have served on the Mississippi Supreme Court. All of them held the same seat in the Central District and were first appointed to the position by a sitting governor.

A Romanian national has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for his role in a major card skimming scam. The Attorney General's Office started receiving reports about the discovery of skimmer devices at various stores in central Mississippi in June of 2024. In addition to prison time, Bogdan Radu will have to pay over $85,000 in restitution for stolen SNAP benefits. When he's released, he'll be deported.
