With the state’s largest car show right around the corner, the Mississippi Lottery Corporation is celebrating fittingly. Beginning Aug. 5, lottery players can find newly designed Cruisin’ the Coast-themed scratchers at retailers statewide. The two-dollar game allows players to scratch off car artwork to reveal different symbols, with the maximum win being $25,000.

The man who killed himself to end an hours-long police standoff in Raymond on Tuesday had an angst-filled view of law enforcement. Richard Lowery has been identified as the person who holed up in a stranger’s residence for nearly six hours before taking his own life.

According to DPS Commissioner Sean Tindell, he believed the MBI hacked his devices, reprogrammed his phone into foreign languages, and placed surveillance equipment in his mobile home.

A Hattiesburg man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated assault. Kristian Lee Aultman was found guilty by a jury last week. Before imposing the sentence, the judge called this "the most serious type of case you can have without it being a homicide", noting that testimony at trial established the victim would have died without emergency medical care.
