Jackson police recently made an arrest in a cold case that dates back to 2016. Officers discovered the body of Tyshun Robinson in a partially burned Cadillac in November of that year. He'd been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene on Belvedere and Winn Street. A cold case unit was formed to help solve the case in 2024, and detectives had a breakthrough that led to the arrest of 48-year-old Calvin Horton.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, isolated severe storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail up to the size of a quarter are possible this afternoon into this evening across portions of Mississippi.

One man was killed and a state trooper was injured after a chase in Copiah County. Deputies were called to Highway 51 and County Line Road after receiving reports of drag racing in the area, but didn't find anything. Some time later, troopers with the state Highway Patrol noticed two vehicles getting ready to race. One of the suspects fled down Rhymes Road, lost control of his vehicle, and struck a tree. 22-year-old Jayden Bridges was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
