Yeah, I love and feel great strutting down to the water with my surfboard under my arm
And my wetsuit in its traditional half on/off fashion
My hair down, big smile on my face, and my abs poppin!
I feel so damn sexy, and I enjoy turning all the heads 😎
And while I used to HIDE all my guilt and shame BEHIND all that ☝🏼️
Now it's merely a reflection of my heart.
All my life, I've just wanted to be seen.
I figured the best way would be through having a dream body, dream family, dream social status, or dream success.
But what I didn't know what that what I TRULY WANTED TO BE SEEN was my heart.
ME.
I wanted to be seen. Acknowledged. Loved. Accepted. Respected. For who I am.
Not my body, performance, family, capabilities, etc.
You and I are alike, know it or not 😉
We all just want to be seen.
Whether it's my toddler acting out or my wife getting on stage in front of 10,000, we all just want to be seen.
And I have news for you...
Everyone is WAITING to see you! ❤️

Being vulnerable with other people exposes the GAP in our integrity as human beings.
There's literally no way around it.

It's crazy the amount of stories and fears that can get in my way and keep me from having the conversation I know I must have.
From the conversation that I know I must have to get clear with sh*t inside my marriage,
to the conversation I must have with one of my kids who seem like their struggling,
to a prospective client who seems like they may be the type to resist me,
to asking a naked guy if I can borrow his surfboard while I'm naked, myself...
Sometimes the only way is to JUST HAVE THE FREAKING CONVERSATION!
If only I would have known earlier in my life what the painful cost of NOT having those conversations would be for me, my family, and others....

August 27, 2019 Surfing Lesson #258: Do I NEED To Surf?...Both Yes AND No! 😎
Truth is, we as human beings have very little actual "needs".
I've gone without any time of food, consuming water only for weeks.
So to a decent extent, I don't even "need" food...at least not 3x per day as we're taught to believe.
I don't NEED healthy food and physical training.
I don't NEED a family or connection with them.
I don't NEED sex with Luci nor a relationship with my kids.
I don't NEED to operate a business, nor do I NEED money...at least not to the extent that I think I "need"...
I don't NEED to surf nor live in Ocean Beach, San Diego.
The reality is I "want" these things ☝🏼️.
And inside of wanting what I want, I make decisions and CHOOSE what I'm committed to.
And inside my personal COMMITMENTS, there are literal requirements or NEEDS 😄
And getting clear with these NEEDS are the ONLY WAY to connection!

No matter how I want to justify it, my kids are a direct reflection of me and my commitment.
Luci is a direct reflection of me and my commitment.
My friends, my clients, my neighbors, my community...
To a certain degree, they are all a direct reflection of what I stand for, who I am, and what I am committed to.
They reflect my heart, the love and light in it, and the capacity to do so.
And the gaps in my capacity to do so.
We love to take credit for the things and relationships in our life that were excited about and proud of.
And...
We love to justify and make excuses for the sh*t that's not in alignment of our hearts.
The impossible wife...
The one "extra challenging" child...
Friends and relationships that "have their issues that they are working on"...
There's a power to be had inside our ability to see how our EVERY SINGLE RELATIONSHIP reflects our current commitment (who we are!)
