In the third disputation, the LORD of Hosts indicts the people of Israel for their treacherous personal life. The people were profaning the Mosaic Covenant by intermarrying with daughters of foreign gods. This led to unlawful divorce and profane worship. The LORD God of Israel hates divorce and hates wicked worship.

In Mark 3-20-27, Mark shows further negative responses to Jesus' ministry. His family thinks he is out of his mind, while the Pharisees believe he is working for Satan. The latter accusation prompts Jesus to show them their absurdity of Satan casting out Satan. What the scribes and Pharisees fail to see is that Jesus is the Messiah and that he is Yahweh. The exorcisms signify that this Yahweh-Messiah has won the battle and that Satan is bound.

Paul reasons with both Jews and Greeks that Jesus is the Christ and that He has been raised from the dead. Paul faces persecution for it in Thessalonica, but the Bereans heed what he says by searching the Scriptures. In Athens, Paul reasons with the philosophers at Mars Hill using a biblical understanding of general revelation showing that men everywhere have no excuse and must repent and believe on Jesus.

In LBCF 17, the Baptist divines highlight that true believers can never fall from the state of grace and shall persevere until the end. This is a work of God as His decree of election is immutable and His character is unchanging. This gives believers hope and encouragement to persevere until the end in the midst of many obstacles.

Jesus appoints the men he chooses to be his witnesses of who he is. These men, who are called apostles, will continue his mission, which is to preach about the power of the Kingdom of God. Those appointed by Christ are sovereignly chosen by him, which is evident in those whom he calls. These are fishermen, not the religiously elite. Moreover, most of these apostles will fade into obscurity but will be faithful apostles to bring about the message.

Malachi continues his second disputation by pronouncing curses upon the priests. The priests in Israel were supposed to guide the people in matters of right worship. God establishes that they fall short of the ideal priests who had the law of truth in their mouths. Because the current priests have departed from Yahweh's ways, they will be despised.

In LBCF 16, the Baptist Divines discuss the nature and place of good works in the Christian Life. A good work is only that which accompanies spiritual salvation and is the evidence - not the effect - of justification. Good works do not merit pardon or right standing before God, but Christians seek to engage in good works, by the power of the Spirit, in order to glorify God and manifest a thankfulness to Him for salvation.

In the first part of the second disputation, Malachi turns his attention to the lazy, profaning worship of the people endorsed and accepted by the priests. The people viewed God as insignificant and treated Him as such in the way they worshipped Him. They were bringing him blemished animals rather than their best. Israel's low view of God lead to their defiled worship.

The Pharisees wished to killed Jesus- the crowded wished to touch Jesus to be healed. These are two different responses to the ministry of the LORD Jesus Christ. But the crowd only focuses on the temporal relief Jesus brings rather than the eternal hope that He provides. Only the demons recognize Jesus as the Son of God.

The Bible calls sinners to repent. This means sinners must turn from their idols to the true and living God. Repentance is not a work by which we earn salvation, but it is a gift of God as sinners are made more aware of their sin by the Holy Spirit. True repentance is sorrow over and hatred sin, not sorrow over the consequences of sin.
