We as human beings have the tendency to blame! It's a way to for us to have a greater understanding of the misfortune. When it comes to grief, one common emotion we feel is blame. Especially when it comes to a loss due to suicide. It gives us a false sense of the reason why our loved one died. In this episode we explore more in depth why we put so much stock into blame.

Grief seems to be one of the most misunderstood experiences. Those of us who have never been through grief have only the movies, TV shows, and books to paint us a picture of what it looks like. No one likes to talk about grief, and no one really wants to understand it fully because we only want to get through it as fast as possible and move on with our lives. Then someone we love dies, we are thrown into the refiners fire and our world turns upside down because we are so unprepared for the experience.

In this episode we discuss the most common misconceptions of grief.  While this is not a comprehensive list, it goes into the most common ones I see in survivors. I like to say knowledge is power and the more educated we are about grief , the better we can understand ourselves and the more willing we will be to process our grief more fully.

In this Episode we discuss feeling lonely. All of us experience loneliness at times but when we are dealing with grief, loneliness can feel more intense. Even more so as a survivor of suicide loss. 

Many of us are confused with what the word lonely really means and sometime our very use of the word can create self defeating dialogue within ourselves. There is a big difference between using it as a character description instead of an emotion that we feel.

 In this episode we have a candid conversation with Susan Snow. In our discussion, we explore grief trauma from the eyes of someone who experienced a murder . We discuss the similarities this type of complicated grief has with suicide loss and how trauma, if left untreated can become problematic in our lives.  

A little bit about Susan.

Susan Snow is a Realtor, Coach, Speaker, and Author. Susan is the daughter of slain LAPD Detective Thomas C Williams, who was killed in the line of duty October 31, 1985 when she was 17 years old.

The high-profile murder put her family in a spotlight no one asks for, traumatizing Susan and her family.  After years of working through this trauma, sometimes more successful than others, Susan strives to help others.

Susan's  book, "The Other Side of the Gun" tells her story from anguish and upheaval to peace and understanding.
