Dancin Dave here. I realized after reflecting on the interviews I did last year, that you probably have very little idea about me and how these individuals came into my life. I'd like to fix that! So I'm taking you back to the beginning, to my very first podcast, and I'll take you through my journey.

Zach Vorhies is a computer scientist who worked for Google for 8 years. After collecting a cache of internal documents he leaked them online through Project Veritas, and continues to inform the public of Google's attempts to manipulate information.

David Booth is the Director of Policy & Advocacy for Black & Pink. Frequently, he uses he/him/his pronouns, but often she/her/hers and rarely they/them/their. His experiences as a formerly incarcerated genderqueer individual have propelled him towards community building, addressing marginalization, and challenging our ideas of justice. For nearly 10 years, David has advocated for inclusive reforms, which acknowledges harm while also ensuring dignity and respect for all criminalized people. He earned his dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Linguistics from Old Dominion University and, later, a Master’s in Public Policy from American University. http://www.survivingthesystem.org

Prior to joining Black and Pink, David joined the National LGBT/HIV Criminal Justice Working Group, founded the Sex Law and Policy Center, and, most recently, worked alongside the Hudson Pride Center. In his spare time, he can be found curled up with a good book, having a dance break, or traveling the trails.

Jared Prince is my personal friend and I've come to know him well. Before his incarceration, he was an average every day, Joe. Then he got a harsh glimpse into how the justice and the judicial system really runs. After spending a few years in state institutions and a few years of "freedom" after the fact he is ready to tell his story.

Steve Lathrop is a politician from the U.S. state of Nebraska. From 2007 to 2015, he was a member of the Nebraska Legislature, representing an Omaha-area district. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Lathrop is the fifth of nine children born to David and Shirley Lathrop.

Bella is currently employed by the Nebraska Department of Corrections and comes on today to give us a unique behind-the-scenes look at what's going on inside Nebraska prisons. Working in the administration area has given her a unique, first-hand look at real instances you don't hear reported in the media.

Paul graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Child Development from Iowa State1978, and then obtained his Master’s of Social Work with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1983.

Between 1983 and 2006, Paul worked as a NE State Licensed Mental Health Therapist. He provided mental health services to students in several schools, as well as Heartland Family Services. He retired from his full time position with UPS in 2017, and since that time has developed a volunteer program to support mental health and literacy at a local elementary school.

He currently volunteers his time at a 7 Step Club in the Nebraska State Penitentiary, and with Rise in several prisons in Nebraska. He collaborates with peers, NE state Senators, Government leaders, and Community Advocacy Organizations to lobby for passage of legislation restricting the use of solitary confinement for vulnerable populations.

Steven is a former gang member in Omaha, NE and was incarcerated for 12 months in 2000. During his time, he met individuals who helped him to turn his life around. Once released, he started to give back to community. First, by coaching youth basketball and volunteering as a field manager for the Omaha Nighthawks and Omaha Rhinos. He is the former resident commissioner for the Omaha Housing Authority, having been selected by the Mayor of Omaha herself. Some of his other former volunteer efforts also include - Chair of the Early Learning Center Policy and Procedures Council and Board Member for Project Homeless Connect. He is currently the VP of HIO (Housing in Omaha) and is a certified community health worker with Douglas County DHHS. He also holds an Associate's in Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling.

Ross Plum, 28, is a small business owner in the Council Bluffs/Omaha Metro area. He has a degree in Business Science from Bellevue University and has a passion for blowing glass and is a supporter of cannabis culture. He is the father of two beautiful children, Grascie and Rosario, and has a goal to become more financially stable for them.
