Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast.
In this session, we look at a question that has been asked from one of our younger audience:
“We were taught at the temple, how the Lord Buddha spent the 7 weeks after Buddha’s enlightenment. I want to be very clear in my mind that this is not a myth. What mental powers and/or physical powers did he use? Does getting up after every 7 days have any significance? I have been told by my Achchi that Buddha had 73 special mental powers and 32 special physical features (specially that he had 40 teeth).”
To answer this question, we look at the Buddha's words on this period and some other relevant suttas that help us to understand the Buddha's deep meditations (including the attainment of cessation or nirodhasamāpatti), as well as his special knowledges, marks and abilities.
Some of the suttas mentioned in this segment:

Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast.
In this talk we examine spiritual maturity - what it looks like, areas to further develop, things to abandon, and seeing the fruits of one's practice.
Some of the topics covered are generosity, virtue, recognising what is unbeneficial to the Path, developing an "unshakable" quality in one's practice, easeful renunciation, not being so easily swayed by conditions in our daily life, abandoning pettiness & silliness, diligence, joy for another's progress, actively using the "stop sign", appreciating solitude, cultivating a healthy sense of urgency, genuinely recognising Dhamma practice as energising, and more.

This is an EXTRACT from the Dhamma Session on developing the accomplishment of VERY LEARNED (bahussuto) from the Sekha-pāṭipada Sutta (MN53) and Nagaropama Sutta (AN 7.67)
It explains the BUDDHA'S SYSTEM FOR LEARNING DHAMMA, that is gradual, comprehensive and entails study and meditation practice. If one wants to learn, develop and progress on the trainee's path of practice (Noble Eightfold Path), then applying the Buddha's framework for learning is an essential part of that.

In this segment, we look at the question that has been asked:
“IS THERE A WAY TO TACKLE THE TAYODHAMMA SUTTA BIT-BY-BIT SO THAT WE CAN GET IT INTO OUR SYSTEM UNSHAKABLY?”
To answer this question, we look at:
The emphasis is on using the Buddha's learning framework or system of learning Dhamma as the means to gradually and sequentially learn and practise. Strong encouragement is always towards making effort to develop virtue, strengthen the mind, develop the concentrations, build on the practice, and develop genuine insight.

This is a short Dhamma talk looking into Buddha's practical advice from the Pacalāyamāna Sutta (AN 7.61) to overcome sleepiness or drowsiness.
The Buddha gave this advice to Venerable MahaMoggallana when he saw him struggling (prior to Venerable MahaMoggallana realising full awakening) with sleepiness, and was prone to nodding off.
This short video references the Pacalāyamāna Sutta (AN 7.61) and Samādhibhāvanā Sutta (AN 4.41).

This is the DHAMMA TALK that was delivered to students (grade 9 and upwards) of a local international high school, via zoom, on 27 June 2021 - in response to an invitation to participate in their Dhamma Session.
The title of the Dhamma talk: "THE VALUE OF MENTAL STRENGTH - How to apply the Buddha’s Teachings to develop a strong mind".
This talk was given as an encouragement to lean on the Buddha's Teachings as medicine in order to develop one's mind to be healthy, and strengthen it by understanding what makes it weak; learning how to clean the mind when it becomes weak or sick; and the importance of cultivating wholesome mental states.
In this Dhamma Talk we examined:

This is the FULL DHAMMA SESSION conducted on POSON POYA (24 June 2021) via zoom on "WHAT MAKES US INCAPABLE OF REALISING NIBBANA?", or escaping from samsāra (the continual cycle of rebirth).
In this Dhamma session we:
This session is more of a broad overview, initial study and snapshot of the Tayodhamma Sutta, explaining the key elements and the groupings and a glimpse at the insight pathways. More time is really needed to deeply study, investigate and contemplate these Dhammas (as in Dhammānupassana). But even this initial session is really helpful at seeing how certain teachings of the Buddha fit together and why what we have been studying thus far is so helpful to encouraging, developing and realising the Noble Eightfold Path.
It's recommended to (1) ensure you understand each element in this sutta (2) go through each grouping of three (3) start investigating the links for each grouping of three, and then (4) gradually study parts or the whole insight pathways of lust (greed), hatred and delusion, and non-lust (non-greed), non-hatred and non-delusion.

This is a GUIDED MEDITATION on the application of the Buddha's teachings in the Āghātavatthu Sutta (AN 10.79) and Vatthūpama Sutta (MN 7) to DECONSTRUCT ANGER.
In this meditation, we take an example at HOME to recognise the arising or construction of anger, and then apply the Buddha's teachings to deconstruct anger through looking at our grounds for anger and tackling the mental stains in the mind so they don't escalate.
The key point is to overcome anger with non-anger (not more anger).
