On this adventure we unpack the trade-offs between Settling and Travelling or as The Clash sung about in their hit song - Should I Stay or Should I go. It's said that human beings have two modes - one for exploiting and one for exploring. On the one hand, we long to be nomadic and free but on the other we seek to be committed to a community and connected to a place. Today we welcome Holly Notcutt, in a wide ranging conversation which explores youth focused social action, a meaningful levelling up agenda and how technology shapes individual and collective behaviours. Holly also challenges the potential paradigm that it is "Perceived Apathy" that may stop people from moving away, and that it may be more complex systemic challenges. We close out with a few tentative Sweet spots that integrate both natural inclinations for establishing local roots and embracing mobility.

In this exploration we look at the difference, similarities and overlaps between craft work traditionally founded in developed skill and experience contrasted with machine or process automation Dr Jonathan explains his experiences of both from both a work an personal perspective. We look at the subtleties and the potential borders between man and machine in different situations and scenarios and hypothesise whether there is a sweet spot or just a connection and if technology such as AI could lead to the virtual extinction of human intervention, or whether the need for risk, feel and pleasure for humans will halt that development.

The tenth in our series where this time we go on a journey with our guest explorer, Tracey McEachran, founder of Curious Minds Consulting. Tracey draws on her vast experience in both the corporate and charity sectors to help us understand where "Space" and "Things" intersect or co-exist, the meanings they could have and how the creative mind works with the cognitive brain and they are in no way, mutually exclusive. She illustrates how that we all can tap into our creative being by accessing our sub-conscious via some simple and powerful rituals.

This is our 9th safari where Kelly Drewery ( Business Psychologist) joins the trail as our expert explorer. Here we discuss the attributes and facets of working in both homogeneous and heterogeneous environments. We cover conformity and creativity and discuss when /where it makes sense to plough on ahead under the auspices of productivity or take stock in order to embrace different ideas and approaches. This leads us to a point where agility and adaptability are beneficial which in turn supports diversity and inclusion and vice versa.

In a slight departure from the normal format, Ben and John explore the upsides and downsides of having more or less in different situations and contexts. Specifically where and when having more or less of something could be additive or detrimental to society, individuals or progress. As always the topics are highly nuanced, but in this case we found that it was situational and potentially relative.

Ben and John explore patterns and polarities on this new theme " Centre and Fringe" .We welcomed Marcus Harris as a new explorer to guide us through this interesting and heavily nuanced topic. Marcus is a key influencer in the Art and Culture scene within London and brings a rich perspective on this theme based on his experience and background, both as a DJ, and Manager for the Croydon Creative Enterprise Zone. We explored the benefits and challenges of being on the fringe and centre and seeing whether they co-exist (Sweetspot) in a synergistic way and how this evolves over time with real life examples of functional collaboration and inter generational collaboration.

This week we introduce a new "Explorer" Allard De Jong from @Team Coaching Studio. Allard helps us navigate the path between potential "Sin" and more "Saintly" behaviour by discussing the concepts, the origins and the attributes, in a way that helps us understand whether there is a hard boundary between the two. We also explore how this is heavily nuanced by both the individuals, beholders and the specific situation. Can we find a sweet spot between the two ?

In the 5th of our series, Ben and John explore the nuances between a shallow approach and a deeper approach in the context of both engaging with people and systems. We discuss the benefits of both approaches along with the pitfalls and how knowing where you are will aid decision making and getting a richer output . Neither is better than the other and the they are not mutually exclusive. Connecting with people and / or systems in the most appropriate way can leader to a richer experience for the benefit of all.

John and Ben have free flowing discussion on the differences between using humour and being serious in various contexts, whether at work or at home. We talk about the complexity and the importance of both context an nuance and how difficult it can be to get the balance right as well as the upsides and downsides of both approaches. We try to bring it back to humanity and see if there are any sweet spots.

This is the third core topic in our series where we explore the significance of polarities in our home and professional lives. John and Ben look into the topic and how both style and substance, sometimes considered as function and form affect us, by looking at personal examples, the history of both products and our thinking. We try and explore the connectivity and how these can co-exist, arguably the sweet spot.
