  • Loving Me

Were you made fun of for having bucked teeth? Being 'too" dark-skinned? Flat-chested? The list goes on. Kids can be cruel. Fortunately, we were able to embrace what we perceived to be flawed...however, there are times when certain insecurities creep up.

In this episode,  we dug deep and discussed childhood insecurities and how we grew from them. Though everyone encounters some kind of insecurity in life, women seem to be more vulnerable to them. We are talking about loving ourselves and growing from our insecurities.

  • Special Child, Special Mom

It's time to break the silence about your kids with disabilities. If more women-of-color spoke up about their special needs children, so many others would not feel alone. The black and brown special needs community needs more visibility. Don't be afraid to "label" your child as special needs. That "label" can get you access to the support and resources that you both need.

In this episode, we're talking with Kacey Dangerfield, aka Kay Alex, who is transparent about her journey with her autistic son, Zander. Kacey gives us great insight into why it's important to get an early diagnosis if you think your child may be special needs and why more Black and brown moms need to open up about the reality of having a special needs child.

Kacey is a mom, wife, podcaster and experience curator who seeks to provide out -of-the-box events and designs that cater to the creative Millennial family. Her most notable events include Dads Can Doo it Too, and The Hunt, an Easter Egg Hunt like no other! By day, she's a Speech-Language Pathologist who currently serves the birth-3-year-old population. Mom of three, and wife to her college sweetheart, Kacey shares the filtered and unfiltered experiences of her family via her Instagram page @_kayalex_. While her world revolves around her family, Kacey knows the importance of self-care as she lives by the quote, "my cup has to be full in order for me to be able to pour into others."

  • Self Care Isn't Selfish

𝗪𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱. As mothers and wives, we often put the needs of our children and spouse first. However, we have to take care of ourselves to thrive as mothers and wives. We can't pour into our family and friends if we're pouring from an empty cup. A lot of the times we may feel bad for taking time for ourselves but in reality, if we don't we can't be our best selves.

In this episode, we're talking with guest Treanna Neufville of @Modernday_MakeupMommy about self-care and making yourself a priority. Treanna believes that when we invest in ourselves and show up for ourselves it makes us better in all facets of our lives.

  • Woman Crush...Whatever

What role does social media play in your relationship? Do you and your spouse post one another on social media? Has social media ever caused any issues in your relationship? Most people post the best moments of their lives on social media. It looks like they have the perfect relationship. If you wouldn't post your drama on social media, keep in mind these "perfect couples" are doing the same.

In this episode, we are talking about social media and the effect they can have on our relationships. The comparison game is real and too often men and women find themselves looking at social media relationships as "goals" when there is so much more behind the scenes.

  • Beauty After Broken

Unfortunately, many parents among us have endured childhood trauma. Though many have been able to move on with their lives, becoming parents themselves can be triggering. Parenting is hard, but parenting as a survivor of childhood trauma can be extremely difficult and terrifying.

We were super excited to chat with Lonnetta "Lonnie" Grant of Lonnie Enterprises and Dynasty Institute! Lonnie is a childhood trauma survivor and the author of "Beauty After Broken". Beauty After Broken was birthed from Lonnetta's personal testimony of survival and determination to rise to the top after experiencing severe trauma as a child. Beauty After Broken's mission is to inspire women to breathe life into their dreams, unlock their gifts, and embrace self-love.
