  • Your Network Determines Your Net Worth

Is your network serving you or holding you back? We've all heard the phrase, "You're the average of the five people you spend the most time with," but how do we put this understanding into action? Today's episode with Shredibles' founder Roddy Hanson takes the concept a step deeper, as we discuss ways to grow and nurture your network.

    In the episode:

    • Why curiosity and passion are key to networking
    • By adding value to others rather than asking what they can do for you
    • Building relationships over time
    • "Letting go" of the pressure around networking as a high stakes environment

  • Finances as an Entrepreneur

It’s easy to glorify the process of entrepreneurship from the outside. Usually we are looking at the end result, not what it took to get there.

Working for yourself, making your own hours, and enjoying the financial incentives that can come with being a business owner are all things that are earned, not given.

This episode takes a raw look at the not so glamorous parts of entrepreneurship. The sacrifices, uncertainty, financial struggles and gambles, and the consistent effort to make ends meat by any means possible.

The payoff comes last. Understanding what it takes to reach that payoff gives you a realistic starting point before jumping into your own entrepreneurial journey.

  • Never Speak In Absolutes

Firm convictions and beliefs can guide moral and ethical decisions- but what if those beliefs can never be questioned? Overly rigid thinking can hold us back and have bad outcomes in other ways.

How can we improve the way we communicate with others? Spoiler: actually listening to their perspectives is a huge part of it, as well as the words we to use.

Let us know what you think about this topic. And... we hope you caught the irony in the title.

Happy Friday all, Matthew and Kyle here. We wanted to leave you with an encouraging reminder going into the weekend to JUST GET STARTED.

If you've ever summited a mountain peak you know what small steps add up to. However, taking the first steps and gaining inertia is often the hardest part. On today's podcast we throw a few ideas around on this topic and tell two stories about how getting started and building momentum has actualized in our professional and personal lives.

  • The "Magical" World of Plant Medicine

There are miracles happening around us constantly. All we have to do is take the time to pay attention.

This week, The Symphony Co. had a chance to speak with special guest Jessie Duke about the magical world of plant medicine.

Jessie shares the story of how she became interested in plant medicine, and the lessons, healing, and growth she's experienced by deepening her relationship with it. Jessie has extensive experience working with Cacao and Kambo, as well as entheogens like Peyote, and Ayahuasca.

We discuss how developing a closer relationship with the natural world can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself and others. Plant medicine is a wonderful vehicle to access this level of understanding, but as Jessie will tell you, it's the integration of the lessons into your day to day life that truly matters.

  • Food + Fasting

What we put into our body is equally important as what we keep out of it. Understanding how the food you eat affects your mind and body can benefit your life in numerous ways. The ancient Greek Physician Hippocrates, regarded as the father of medicine, said it best when he stated, “let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

In this week’s episode, Kyle and Matthew talk food and fasting. They discuss similarities across the board of trending diets, things to be aware of and avoid, and how certain foods can dictate our energy levels and overall perception of the world. They also explore the world of intermittent fasting, and how intentionally restricting your body of food can sharpen your senses, boost energy levels, and provide a blank slate to see how your body responds to the food you eat afterwards.

  • Thinking vs. Paying Attention

Listening is half the conversation, literally. Avoiding the tendency to think about what to say next while the other person is still talking is a practice that can radically improve your ability to communicate.

Kyle and Matthew talk about how this practice, and more broadly the importance of balancing the thinking and observing parts of the mind.
