Our picture of God has a direct relationship to our experience of him, the way we feel about him, and how we live our lives. So who is the God we follow? What is He like? What is his love like? Is there something great to discover about him which might just change us and the way we see and live in the world? It’s in the ‘tough’ stuff we most wonder about the goodness of our God, about whether he really is as loving and merciful as we have been led to believe, and whether the consequences of certain actions are truly deserved. The Kingdom of Israel undoubtedly wondered the same things as they faced God’s tough love for them. Yet, Amos’ message didn’t finish in the darkness – it finished in the light of the bigger picture God was painting. As we conclude our series in the Book of Amos, we will ask what this means for us today as we seek to follow Jesus. We hope you can join us!

Sometimes it’s hard to know which is harder: to hear the truth or to speak the truth. The reality is that the truth can be uncomfortable, yet somehow, incredibly powerful in bringing healing and change. Amos knew this as well as anyone. He was a man burdened with a tough truth, required to share it with people who wouldn’t like what he had to say. How would he respond to the task? How would they respond to the message? How ready are we today to both speak the truth, and listen to it - especially when it relates to faith and obedience to God?

Join us this week as we continue to explore what we can learn from the journey of Amos as he carried a tough-love message from God to his people.

Some of us wouldn’t get through the week without to-do lists. There’s a certain power in checking things off lists so we feel free to get to the ‘fun stuff’ in life. So what happened when God’s people in the Kingdom of Israel started to make worshipping him just part of their ‘to-do’ list? What did he have to say to them when their worship stopped at religious routine? What did He really desire from his people? What does He desire from his people today?

Join us as we continue our journey through the message of Amos, and ask how God’s tough love for Israel can still challenge and shape us today.

We love to label things. Putting a label on something makes us feel like we know what to expect from something or someone. If a can is labelled ‘Dog Food’, we know not to expect to find ice-cream inside! But what happens when something or someone doesn’t quite match the label it holds? What should we expect then? The Kingdom of Israel loved the label ‘God’s chosen people’, so much so that they believed they could do no wrong in God’s eyes, and that nothing could or would touch them. The problem was that God knew their lives didn’t match their label. This week as we look at the message God sent his people through Amos, we wonder what this message might mean to those of us who proudly wear the label ‘Christian’ today.

For many of us, we spend more time working than we do on any other one thing. Who we are at work, and how we feel about our work can impact so many other facets of who we are and our enjoyment of life. So how do we 'work well'? Could even the most challenging work space be transformed by the influence of Jesus? If so, where do we start? Today as we wrap up our 'Transformed' series, we will be considering what the Bible has to say about these very questions and how we can bring our faith and our vocation together in a powerful way.

Money causes different responses in different people - for some it causes stress and worry, for others a sense of security and control. However we feel about money, we all have to deal with it on a daily basis, and the choices we make can impact more than just our wallets. Today we continue to explore what it means for Jesus to transform our lives, and ask what it means for him to transform the way we see and use money.
