In this world, you will have trouble, Jesus tells us. The Jewish Christians in Hebrews knew that all too well. And we are guaranteed to experience troublesome times as well. To live by faith can sometimes be very difficult. Obeying a God we cannot see comes often means we can feel unsure about where we are headed. But faith is confidence in what we hope for, and certainty about what we cannot see. We are fortunate enough to have many many example of faith to follow, listed in the well-known Hebrews chapter 11. Bill Brown shares from these examples to encourage us to ‘Press On’ by faith, just as many who have gone before us had done. We will see how much greater is it to live in obedience to Christ, contrary to society/the world, by our confidence and assurance in Christ, and see the great kingdom benefits that always come as a result.

While the new heaven and new earth are coming, they are not yet here. The early Christians didn’t think the world was getting better on its own or even under the steady influence of God. But equally they didn’t believe the world was getting worse and worse, and that their task was to escape it. Rather the early Christians believed God was going to do for the whole world what he had done for Jesus at Easter and the New Testament has some very rich themes that help to describe the New Heaven and New Earth.

The Trinity consists of three parts: Jesus the Son, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father. While God is often referred to as ‘Father', what would we learn about God when we pause to think of him as a father to us? Taking from a well-known passage in the Bible, and from his own personal experiences as a father, Chris highlights what we can learn about the heart of God when we reflect on his role as our heavenly father, and the depth of his love for us.
