Tavana is a multi-instrumentalist from Honolulu, HI who uses electronic drum triggers to lay down a variety of grooves with his feet while simultaneously playing guitar, banjo, lap steel, or ukulele and singing soulful, island-inspired Rock and Blues.
His 4th album ‘Aloha Spirit’ was a Na Hoku Hanohano Award Nominee (essentially the Grammy’s of Hawaii) for best contemporary album of the year in 2018.
Tavana has been the supporting act for Alabama Shakes, Shakey Graves, Xavier Rudd, Jenny Lewis, Julian Marley, and Kaleo to name just a few, and in 2009, Eddie Vedder invited Tavana to sing ‘Hawaii 78’-a Hawaii anthem of sorts-with him at the Hawaii Theatre.

In this episode, I sit down with the lead singer and songwriter of Satsang, Drew McManus (@Satsang) to discuss finding presence within chaos. | Brought to you by The Mindful Method.
McManus has spent most of his life trying to distance himself from his troubled upbringing in Des Moines and Chicago and its cycle of violence, abuse, and addiction. McManus, though, would find his peace amid family in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana, an oasis that allows him a warm hearth to recharge from the rigors of the road and practice his other passions which include painting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and social activism.
He is quoted saying, "Home is my heart, and when I’m not on tour, I’m a stay-at-home dad with four kids. My music is the self-reflection of that and the touring is the mirror.”
During a month-long backpacking trip in the Himalaya Mountains in 2015, McManus realizes that as part of his recovery from addiction, he must share his life journey in poetry and song to help other lost souls. Songs of surrender, vulnerability, and perseverance pour out of him, forming the foundation of Satsang’s 2016 debut, The Story of You, highlighted by "I Am", a fan-favorite hymn of self-love that has surpassed two million listens on Spotify.
We discuss growing up around alcoholism and addiction and the role it's played in his life, discovering his love for music during a rock-climbing expedition to Nepal, why he says he has a love of violence, and much much more.

In today's episode, I sit down with the Founder of Earn Your Booze, Justin Cross (@Justin.J.Cross) to discuss taking ownership of your life and leading by example. | Brought to you by The Mindful Method.
Navy Veteran turned Flight Test Engineer turned Brewer turned business owner may be just about the easiest way to put who Justin is into words.
After realizing that his passion exceeded corporate formulas and development ladders, Justin rejected rigidly defined parameters to embrace his calling as a business owner and trailblazer. Confident that entrepreneurship positioned him to take control and earn his own rewards in life, the Earn It® mentality was born.
In 2017, he launched EARN YOUR BOOZE®, veteran-owned and operated apparel, event, and lifestyle company in Phoenix, Arizona.
With Justin, there is so much more than meets the eye and I can strongly say that he is the definition of a hard worker, and truly leads by example day in and day out.
In this episode, we discuss everything from aeronautical engineering and its role in preparing him for entrepreneurship, why focusing only on one's passions is the only way to live a fulfilling life, the current state of society as well as the economy and so much more.
Please enjoy the show

In today's episode, I sit down with the one and only Debbie Popiel (@DebbiePopielYoga) to discuss mindset and the role it's played in her life, how she's broken the cycle of doing what society said she 'should' do and the power of positive thinking.
Debbie Popiel is a living example of the life-changing impact of a regular yoga & meditation practice. A single mom trying to make ends meet, Debbie found yoga in 2001.
Yoga transformed her ability to handle the stresses of daily life and become more present with her family and friends. Her daily experience is now based in peace and mindfulness.
She has a keen awareness of how to hold the energy of a room and help students feel safe. Every student in her class feels as though they are the most important person in the room while remaining authentic to the practice.
Debbie is passionate about sharing the transformational gifts of yoga & meditation with her students. Students will leave her class feeling inspired, calm, and empowered.
Debbie is a dear friend of mine, an inspiration to many, and an absolutely amazing individual, so please enjoy this wide-ranging discussion with none other than Debbie Popiel.

Her big message with this upcoming book is that you need to LOVE the system, your system, in order to heal it.
Her mission is to help inspire others to venture towards their own healing journeys whether that's physical or mental, and to do her part in raising the collective vibration.
We talk a lot in this episode about energetic vibrations, creating an environment for healing, her new book, and so much more.
