Today is the Eve of Christmas and we decided to read from the prophet Isaiah. We read one passage from chapter 9 and then jump to chapter 60. The theme we deal with is a big one for the Christmas season...Light and Darkness. It is a big theme across the scriptures and is highlighted and magnified during the birth of Jesus.

Today December 21st, 2021 is known as Homeless Person's Memorial Day. The homeless or shelterless are often not seen. We look past them or we see the shape they are in and ignore them. Today I will briefly share with you why this day matters to us.

Today we are in Colossians 1:15-20. Jesus is the fullness of God. This little passage is all about the divinity of Christ. As we approach Christmas, we see an infant who already at birth was God in the flesh- he did not inherit it later, nor did it leave him at any point. The fullness of God in Christ.

It is tough to be patient. It is tough to wait. It is especially difficult to patiently wait while there are difficulties that surround you. I don't know about you but I don't like to endure long periods of hurt and sadness when I see that there is no end in sight. There is Good News and we will see it in our Hebrews 10 passage today.

Today our text is Luke 7:31-35. Jesus talks about the generation that he was witnessing. It seems like even when you are standing right in front of Jesus that you can still not be pleased. Once again, we ask God for fresh eyes this season to see Jesus and not all the trappings that distract.

Hardened hearts have been an issue for a long time. Isaiah talked about it, Jesus talked about it and now today we'll get to Paul in Acts 28 talking about it. What has hardened the hearts of people? Advent season we are surrounded with a public celebration of the season which can also harden hearts. Let's ask God to open our eyes and ears.

From the stump will grow a shoot. This is a big verse of advent as the prophecy is clearly about the coming Messiah. God can't be defeated and some people think they can bring the axe to God...that pride will be brought down.
