On todays episode we start to see the conflict that will extend through many difficulties of the early church...Jews and Gentiles. This is a difficult issue especially when it comes to people because people like control over "their" stuff and outsiders should not have a say. These new believers should not be considered outsiders but it is hard to give up the control.

Today we begin the discussion of the early church. The early church often gets put on a pedestal and idolized. We will start the discussion of why it needs to fall. The end of Chapter 4 gives us a perfect picture of people sharing and not having ownership over their stuff...but then chapter 5 begins with a story that goes against it all.

Today we are summing up the journey of the disciples. WE can sum it up with the following words rejection, betrayal, disappointment, and hurt. It seems the dysfunction runs in the family. Thanks be to God we are not rejected for all of this.

Today we find some more dysfunction amongst the disciples. John hears about some people doing good things in Jesus name but is not apart of "their" group...we should go tell them to stop, right? We talk about the in crowd and our crowd and the ways that we sow divisions within the Body of Christ. Jesus does have some fitting words for us today.

Today we are looking at a time where dysfunction was present in the conversations of the disciples. They were even ashamed to same what they were talking about. Self righteousness is never a good quality for a follower of Jesus. Our discussions on who is the greatest will be a short list...Jesus

Today we are talking about another disciple of Jesus, Thomas. If you don't recognized Thomas it is usually because people know him by one moment in his life...when he wanted proof. Doubting Thomas is what he is known as but it really is a bum rap. We are going to talk about doubt today.

Today as we are going to start getting into the NT, we will tackle some of the dysfunction of the disciples. The first disciple we will talk about is one of the more prominent; Peter. Peter has some dysfunction that I believe also communicates to many people today. Jesus is still faithful.

Today we begin with the New Testament, and what do you know there is a whole list of the dysfunctional family tree...or commonly known as the genealogy. There is a great reminder for us that there is a long line of imperfect people and God has worked through them all.

Today I am going to address an issue that needs to be addressed. I did an episode May 19, 2020 talking about Ravi after he had died. I was unaware of the issues surrounding his ministry. An outside company came in and through investigation found there were multiple sexual and spiritual abuse cases that Ravi was a part of. I didn't want to just sweep this under the rug, like the church likes to do in many cases, but instead to speak out against celebrity church culture and the lack of accountability. We can't be silent!

Today we are summing up the rest of the Old Testament by talking about the rollercoaster ride of up's and down's. They really put the fun in dysfunctional. But before we go pointing fingers we also see a big parallel to many of us today. We definitely have some things in common with the family tree.
