You have NO control over your future…but you do have control over what you do each day and the habits that you develop that will then create your future.
All too often, we focus on the goal…
We have the end in mind without considering the obstacles that might prevent us from reaching our truest potential.
What I've found to be the most important change that we can all make in our lives when it comes to reaching EVERY SINGLE GOAL that we set forward for ourselves…is the simplest thing possible…
Micro goals.
I'm talking a goal that sounds silly to say out loud.
Perhaps you have a goal to lose 20 pounds. That's fantastic! BUT…
How many times have you had this goal in the past and what prevented you from achieving it?
Instead, I suggest that we reframe the goal a tad so that we can develop micro habits that will compound over time and make it impossible for us to fail.
So, if I were to argue the easiest and smallest micro habit that I could create with the goal of losing 20 pounds…
It would be to walk for 5 minutes. Yes…5 minutes.
The reason for a micro goal this tiny is that there is never going to be a reason why you can't walk for 5 minutes a day.
Going further…Walking for 5 minutes a day with intention is going to give you 35 minutes a week. This is going to be a lot more than if you didn't have a 5 minute/day goal at all.
And the coolest part? We naturally realize how much more we can do when we have a goal so small. It's likely that your 5 minutes could easily turn into 20-30 minutes a day. Now, do the mouth and compound that over time and you could find yourself walking 15 hours a month with ease.
I don't know about you but I'd rather take on a 5 minute/day goal instead of looking at things as a 15 hour/month goal.
