As the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 nears its conclusion ahead of the final between England and Spain on Sunday night, much of the focus will now switch to the legacy this tournament will leave and building on the enormous groundswell of support seen across both Australia and New Zealand.
Our very own Alex Bishop, who was in New Zealand following Japan’s fortunes, was lucky enough to be invited to the Manaaki Invitational youth tournament, staged by A-Leagues side Wellington Phoenix and featuring academy teams from the Phoenix, as well as others from Japan and the USA.
Alex sat down with Katie Barriott, Women's Football Development Lead at Wellington Phoenix, and Steve Coleman, their Academy Technical Director, to find out more about the tournament and how they'll look to build on the World Cup's success.
