I am having a great time experimenting with different formats for my show!
This week I have invited two of my female friends to be my guests. We will be demonstrating peer support work by doing more of a round table discussion and tapping session. We are going to talk about the inner child who sabotages us and derails us by triggering our cravings and our compulsive episodes. Since I have temporarily moved to Nebraska to be a central caregiver for my mother I have found it is much more challenging to follow any protocol which results in my feeling the best physically. At the end of the day, when I am tired and my expectations have not matched my accomplishments, I find I am much more inclined to comfort myself with food which then compromises my productivity and mood the next day. It has become a cycle which I want to break.
(FYI - I do have coverage for my radio show, the two online workshops I will begin in September and 10 client hours - but other than this my Mom is my main focus.)
Laurel, Carol and I will share our respective experiences and then do tapping sequences together to begin to address these patterns.
My hope is that this will be valuable to all who identify with this behavior. It is my belief that as women of the American society we are programmed to have what I call an “eating distortion.” It may not be an out-an-out “disorder,” but the behavior serves to keep us just every so slightly out of commission so we do not claim the fullness of our mastery. Mine seems to get triggered when my inner child feels there is no other place to get attention - if I choose to eat instead of work with her the problem intensifies. She uses over eating to get my attention and when it does not work she uses over eating to frustrate and sabotage me. Tapping can neutralize this dynamic and I want to share some sequences which may also apply to you.
