Welcome to 2024! This week on the Take on Board podcast, I am going solo. I have an update on my RSVP word of the year, a birthday wish and I am sharing tips from the Take on Board community.

For our final Summer Series episode: Today on the Take on Board podcast I’m speaking with Tammy Atkins about the transition to digital board papers - From reams of paper to electronic board papers.

Tammy is – and has been - on a number of Victorian government boards and has been a Councillor at the Rural City of Wangaratta. 

She is a regionally-based non-executive director with expertise in community and stakeholder engagement, strategic writing, and governance-level knowledge of industry sectors, including TAFE and water. Comfortable with technology, Tammy holds qualifications in cyber strategy and risk and is interested in digital literacy initiatives. She is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Up next: Today on the Take on Board podcast I’m speaking with Marianna O’Gorman about how to prepare for board meetings.

Marianna is on the boards of ARENA – the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and Stanwell Corporation Limited. She is also a committee member of Chief Executive Women, and an Advisory Board member for The McKell Institute. 

Marianna has a focus on climate governance and risk and she works with organisations who want to transition to a cleaner economy. She has represented Australia at international climate negotiations; helped develop climate change education programs at the World Bank; contributed to the design and implementation of a national carbon price; worked on the foundation of (and later at) Australia’s Green Bank, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation; and conducted academic research on decarbonisation.

Welcome to the final episode of Take on Board for 2023.

And what a year it’s been.

In this episode, I'm going to take you through my ‘RSVP’ process – an invitation to reflect on the year and set intentions for 2023. Think travel, working with ease and building and creating connections.

Today on the Take on Board podcast I’m speaking with Michelle Cutler about conflicts of interest.

Michelle is on the board of Shaun Parker & Company - small modern dance company known for its diversity and social commentary works.

She has previously been on the boards of Address Housing (community housing provider for women and children fleeing domestic violence) and Give a Smile - providing free orthodontic treatment to kids on public dental lists.

Michelle started her working life as a lawyer in Asia before moving to London to work in business advisory across Europe and the US. She has been back in Australia for the past 10 years working as a CEO in the NFP and membership association sector. Her last role was as CEO of Community Legal Centres Australia. At the moment she is working with a small number of clients focussing on strategic planning and governance.

Melanie provides Company Secretary services to a number of boards including Terrain Natural Land Management in Cairns, Merri-bek Affordable Housing and the Asylum Resource Centre in Melbourne.

She’s previously been on a number of boards including Ruby on Rails Australia, Moreland Affordable Housing.

Melanie says she’s not as "into" being on boards as some others in the Take on Board community. She likes the governance side and the helping getting them organisied, In some form or another she’s been doing governance work for the past nearly 30 years.”
