Takes All Over The Place

We’ve been off your feed for two weeks and Nick spent a lot of time with a new mouse friend named Tucker while Julie watched all 97 minutes of Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole on a dare. They both attempted Snowflake Mountain, Nick also watched Wimbledon and Spartacus, Julie has continued on with The Old Man and Loot and we’ve got Everything’s Trash, Only Murders in the Building and The Challenge on the horizon.

Hi Gemstones! We took the week off recording but we still wanted to give you some content. Here is our June Patreon bonus episode where Nick and Julie reminisce on their favorite and most impactful gay characters, tv shows and movies. Did we miss a fave of yours? Let us know in the comments!

Nick takes J Lo’s song to heart and gets real loud with crunchy pretzel bites and zero shame - it’s pride! Julie’s got a full slate of pleasant palate-cleansing shows and movies (The Dog House, God’s Favorite Idiot, Jerry and Marge Go Large) if you’re looking for that sort of thing. And we all get giddy about J Lo and her choreographer, hilarity and relatability on Twitter, and a game of family feud.

Hey Murder Muffins! We’ve got a wild and wonky episode for you today! The internet seems exhausted, but our tenacious podcast hosts found a few things to chat about. Julie wrapped up some cult-y miniseries, Nick tried to brave The Boys, and they both found some comfort in easy comedies and the Netflix Stand Out comedy special. Also plenty of goofy tweets, a lil bit of drag race and a game of Scattegories.

It’s Pride Month and we’re kicking it off with Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang in the gay Pride & Prejudice retelling: Fire Island on Hulu. Spoiler alert: It’s delightful. We wrap up our weekly scaries with Elizabeth Moss and Andrew Garfield finding resolution (sort of) in Shining Girls and Under the Banner of Heaven. Then we head into a treasure trove of tweets (and other nonsense), more gay stuff on Drag Race All Stars, and a game of Password!

This week Julie is channeling her inner Cersei Lannister and Nick is high on chicken and vibes. Nick finally got into the fantastic 42nd season of Survivor (now airing on CBS), Julie is indulging in the luxe world of the obscenely rich (and Kevin) cast of Bling Empire, and we’re all trying to follow the dark, twisty and suspenseful mysteries in Shining Girls, Under the Banner of Heaven and Flight Attendant. Please send any clarifying theories to us on instagram @takespod

Flight Attendant Season 2 is just a full-on mystery, Shining Girls is at least a dozen mysteries, and the boys of Under the Banner of Heaven are v creepy and refuse to live in grey world. We’ve also got a healthy dose of funny and relatable tweets so you can bypass the internet if you so choose and we play a game of mad gabs that shouldn’t drive you crazy (fingers are crossed).
