Takes All Over The Place

Nick’s still feeling fit and mobile in his vacay afterglow and Julie’s cozying up to the nostalgic Picket Fences as the fall weather approaches. We all watched Do Revenge and started the season of Survivor, along with some joyous tweet and new game wackiness.

Nick is back and his storytelling game is strong. We get a wonderful recap of his time in the mountains (with some CRUCIAL missing details, only available on our latest Blerg!). Then we talk about Abbott Elementary, which Nick and the Emmy’s recently acknowledged though Julie’s been singing it’s praises for a year, and other nonsense the algorithm threw at us like the Love is Blind retreat episodes, Sins of Our Mother and gay K-drama.

Nick’s been scooting down the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, so Julie brought her friend Kara into the studio to chat and to compete. They have dueling “getting to know you” questions, they vie for who watches the best worst reality tv and they almost come to a stalemate in a game of Taboo.

Show Notes:

@1:30 - Hot takes | Potty talk, getting to know you (Kara), ugly hot, House of the Dragon, The Bachelorette, Below Deck, House of Ho, Tiny House Nation, the Housewives - Erica Jayne

Nick’s giddy about sabotaging his place of work, leaving on a jet plane, and (most importantly) finally diving into the wonderful world of Woo. Nick will be missed while on vacation, but Julie’s got a fleet of home renovators and sellers on Netflix keeping her company and I’m sure we’ll find many more content holes before next week.

Show Notes:

@1:00 - Hot takes | Nick watched Woo, rainforest cafe, Serena’s last match, John McEnroe documentary, tennis throwback, Making the Cut, gay hobbits, Instant Dream House, Netflix house shows, The Challenge

Nick’s vacation prep is in full effect and that means a buffet of chicken fries, a roll call of what medical practitioners he has available (left) and a review of plane-induced panic behaviors from both of our hosts. We let the intrusive thoughts win in the tweets of the week and go for the win in this week’s game of poetry for neanderthals.

Somehow we’re still trying to convince Nick to watch the K-drama that everyone else is watching - Extraordinary Attorney Woo - but don’t worry, he forged is own road path and found the gayest and hardest to stream show he could - Semantic Error. Julie went down a Tyson Apostol rabbit hole, they challenged each other to a Game of Thrones trivia contest, and we rounded it out with a healthy handful of tweets and a game of Scattegories.

Show Notes:

Nick’s K-pop lessons continue - because he led us astray last week - and Julie might be getting into it? Maybe she’s just been softened by the romance of Never Have I Ever season 3 and Indian Matchmaking (both on Netflix). And whatever our brains had going for them was thoroughly scrambled by a game of Poetry for Neanderthals (thanks Stacy!)

It’s been a minute so we’ve got some catching up to do. Nick and Julie talk about their weird and weirder workplace adventures, Nick stays in his K-pop lane, Julie’s smitten with Attorney Woo on Netflix and they are both into Loot. There’s a load of funny tweets, we finally discuss the Drag Race All Stars finale, and play a game of taboo!

In a strange twist, Nick watched a couple of shows from this decade and Julie struggled to watch much of anything. So they’ve got an assortment of takes from Normal People to the Gray Man, plus a game within a game as we seek the tweet of the week, the setup to a fantastic finale of Drag Race All Stars and a little game of song (and other things) association.

This week we’re going down the list of Emmy nominations to review who should win and who’s white nonsense. Julie also runs down the list of what else she’s watching and the ways the Cotters have failed her this week, and Nick does great until a mysterious allergen takes him down.
