28 year old from Gainesville, FL who graduated from USF in 2020 with bachelors in Health Science. He worked for 2 years for the Florida Department of Health in Gainesville as an operations consultant for emergency preparedness before deciding to pursue a career in physical therapy. Meryl Alappattu, PT, DPT, PhD graduated a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida (UF) in 2008. After graduation, she completed a year-long clinical residency at University of Florida Health in Cancer Rehabilitation and Pelvic Health and has continued her clinical work specializing in rehabilitation for patients with cancer and pelvic health issues. Dr. Alappattu completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the UF in 2014, studying mechanisms of pelvic pain in women and is currently a Research Associate Professor in the UF Dept. of Physical Therapy and a clinical research scientist at Brooks Rehabilitation.

Emily is a physical therapist who works at an outpatient oncology rehab clinic in Colorado. She graduated with her Bachelors in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida, and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami. Additionally, she is a certified lymphedema therapist, certified in dry needling, and a PORi certified oncology rehabilitation specialist. Dr. Pyda is currently located in Gainesville, Florida. Her primarily work at HCA North Florida as a Hospitalist Physician and she is also part of the GME family medicine residency program where her function as Core Faculty Assistant Professor precepting in the clinic working with the residents that she is involved within the residency program.She went from being the physician to the patient when she self detected a lump in her breast at the age of 30 years old and diagnosed with cancer at the age of 31. It all happened at a pivotal moment in her life when she was preparing to finish her residency training, take boards, and start the next chapter of her life transitioning to an attending. Dr. Weisbrod is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Aquatic Animal Medicine at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. She obtained her DVM at Cornell in 2017 followed by an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles and a specialtyinternship in aquatic medicine at the University of Florida. She went on to pursue a masters and her research focused on pathology in Florida manatee calves. In 2023 she completed a residency in aquatic and zoological medicineand obtained board certification by the American College of Zoological Medicine. Upon completion of her training, she was ready to dive into her new position and celebrate with her friends and family, however, life had otherplans. In January of 2024 a biopsy confirmed a diagnosis of breast cancer. She has spent the entirety of the year on the other side of the needle battling the disease, but in the process has learned to be a better advocate and moreeffective and empathetic friend, partner, and clinician.

Ms. Jasmine Brown hails from the great state of Maryland where she spent most of her childhood. She was born into a military family (Go Navy!) She attended the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, a historically black college or university, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She then furthered her studies by obtaining a Master of Physician Assistant Studies in June 2021 from the University of Florida. She has been employed with the Department of Urology for 2.5 years. Ms. Brown has a passion for health disparities and proper education of patients to empower them to make knowledge-based decisions. She is active in the education of upcoming medical professionals and serves as an alum interviewer for UF School of Physician Assistant Studies. Her responsibilities include care for a multitude of urologic conditions, but she specializes in Oncology and Female Urology. She additionally enjoys bedside assisting in the operating room for robotic surgical cases.

Associate Professor Louise Koelmeyer is the Head, Department of Health Sciences and Director of the Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment (ALERT) program within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences at Macquarie University. Louise is a lymphoedema therapist (Occupational therapist), educator and researcher with over 30 years of experience in both public and private settings specializing in breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management. Louise is involved in strategically managing and developing the education, research and treatment arms of the innovative and internationally recognized “Centre of Excellence” multidisciplinary program.

Louise is a member of the ALERT teaching faculty offering ALA accredited lymphoedema training programs for health professionals. Louise develops and presents education workshops and advanced skill-based modules on all aspects of assessment and management of lymphoedema locally, nationally and internationally. Her area of interest is on the prospective surveillance model of care in early detection and management of lymphoedema and innovative advances in management. Louise’s research interests are in achieving better outcomes in innovative early and advanced lymphoedema management through conservative and surgical treatment. Louise is also interested in the assessment and management of Head & Neck lymphoedema, surgical options and the use of Indocyanine Green Lymphography to personalize management.
