Katherine Krzys, archivist, actress, director, author, andtheatre for youth historian, received an MFA in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University (ASU). Under her 33-year leadership as the Curator of the ASU Child Drama Collection, this archive grew to become the largest repository in the world documenting the international history of theatre for youth back to the 16th century.
Her publications include: biographies of leaders in thefield, a 3-volume history of ASSITEJ, and journal bibliographies. She was frequently invited to deliver keynote speeches at conferences and landmarkcelebrations.
In the summer of 1996, she received the AATE (AmericanAlliance for Theatre and Education) Campton Bell Lifetime Achievement Award anda Medallion of Honor from the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014(date?)for which she was treated with a lumpectomy, radiation, and chemo. In November 2020, she received a diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for which she has been receiving care at UF Oncology.
