This is the first week since the end of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season and we are looking back at some of the biggest stories of the 18-game campaign.

Marco Munno and David Hein review which were the best and worst teams, the positive and negative surprises as well as the best Sixth Man, Rising Star, Coach of the Year and our All-First and Second Teams (I like Marco’s better than mine looking back).

The BKT EuroCup Regular Season is over and the playoffs are set with Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem and Besiktas GAIN Istanbul owning the top spots and Jerusalem holding home court advantage through the playoffs. The two second seeds going directly to the Quarter-Finals are Bahcesehir College Istanbul and Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse. And the other big game was U-BT Cluj-Napoca beating Aris Thessaloniki Betsson to grab the final spot in the post-season.

Marco Munno and David Hein review the action from Round 18 and highlight the wins by Turk Telekom Ankara - who raced away from NINERS Chemnitz in the fourth quarter; and Buducnost VOLI Podgorica, who surprised Bourg with a comfortable win. They then review top individual showings by Matt Thomas of Besiktas, Cluj’s Karel Guzman, Leo Candi from Umana Reyer Venice and Selom Mawugbe of Dolomiti Energia Trento.

This week’s games were highlighted by an incredible comeback and buzzer-beater winner win by Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse to secure a Quarter-Finals spot; Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem surviving a massive rally to win in overtime to lock up the top spot in Group A; and Bahcesehir College Istanbul missed a chance to secure a top-two spot by losing to Slask Wroclaw again(!). The playoffs field is complete save for one team - either U-BT Cluj-Napoca or Aris Thessaloniki Betsson - though there is loads of placing still at stake.

Besiktas GAIN Istanbul became the third team to qualify for the playoffs - after Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem and Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse - while both Jerusalem and Bourg lost. There were THREE game-winners at the buzzer … and … Veolia Towers Hamburg finally won.

The BKT EuroCup is not quite on Christmas break yet - NINERS Chemnitz are hosting Besiktas GAIN Istanbul on day of this release - but we thought we should hand out some Christmas gifts.

Marco Munno and David Hein get into the holiday spirit and pick five teams from each group and hand out some gifts. Marco’s clubs from Group A are Bahcesehir College Istanbul, Aris Thessaloniki Betsson, Neptunas Klaipeda, Umana Reyer Venice and Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem. Dave for his part chose Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens, London Lions, ratiopharm ulm, Dolomiti Energia Trento and NINERS Chemnitz from Group B.
