What happens when a client has a new insight or gains information that they want to practice in their lives? How do we as coaches shine that light and at the same time check in with the client for alignment and implementation?
Competency 8.1

What decisions are we making as we are coaching our clients and what are we basing those decisions on? A coaching session is fluid and we are always making decisions about what questions to ask and when to use silence. So how do we use what we know of our client’s preferences to inform how we show up?  And how do we maintain presence in a session to be sure that our choices are serving the client?
Competency 7.1 & 7.6

Questions, questions, questions.  It’s all about curiosity and questioning, but what kinds of questions and when do we ask them? How do we learn about a new client and how do we build on that learning to invite a client to broaden their thinking or reframe perspectives?

What does it mean to partner with a client and the stakeholders for a coaching engagement? What are the considerations regarding confidentiality and clarity around expectations? How do you know whether a client is a “good fit” for you as a coach? And are you a good fit for that client? What if any ethical obligations do we have when considering Coach-Client compatibility? Competency 3.4 & 3.5

Listening actively means going beyond a client’s words and noticing emotions, energy and body language. And then it is important that we are reflecting these in a way that is neutral and non-judgmental to provide the opportunity for awareness.

How do our beliefs, culture and context inform our coaching? How do we prioritize our ongoing growth as a coach to benefit ourselves and our clients.
Competency 2.4 & 2.8

What role do we have in building our client’s autonomy through adapting our coaching style to support the client’s perceptions, talents and insights?
