The Global team from adidas joins us this week to talk all about the design, creation and execution of the adidas Avacourt. With a rich history of celebrating strong women (think: Billie Jean King, Steffi Graf, Ana Ivanovic, & beyond) and creating shoes specific for their needs on the court, adidas has spent the past several years perfecting this beautiful tennis shoe. The Inspiring Children Foundation and Never Broken program have been empowering children struggling with financial hardship, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation by giving them the ultimate environment to survive then thrive at the highest levels. In this episode, President & Founder, Ryan Wolfington is joined by Trent Alenik and Ricky Sypert (both players to have come through the program and now have important roles within the organization) to discuss the life topics that really matter. Through their mission to revolutionize education by including a holistic approach in terms of physical, emotional and mental health. By creating this community of care, both online and in-person, youth begin healing by sharing openly in meaningful conversations and lives are transformed. With support from personalities like Bob & Mike Bryan, Jewel and more. 

With teenage suicide up, anxiety and depression doubling, the foundation has been at the forefront of solving this mental health epidemic. The program arms at-risk youth with everything they need to be physically, emotionally and mentally healthy in a fun and inspirational way, online and in person.

Quinn Borchard is living the tennis life in all the ways. As a former top SoCal junior and top college player, he also spent some time playing on the pro & ITF circuit. Now in his 30s, he competes in National Tournaments, has collected a few gold balls and even dabbles in pickleball. Plus, he is the Head Pro at Sunset Hills in Thousand Oaks, CA and has created one of the top young junior programs in the country for kids under the age of 14. On top of all that and maybe most importantly, he is a Dad (and husband!) and has two sons playing tennis at different levels which all equates to the fact he is learning to balance being a dad and a coach for a top up and coming junior player. 

In this episode, we talk about the ups and downs of junior tennis -- from the perspective of the kids, from the perspective of the coaches and from the perspective of the the parents. Quinn's son, James, has recently found much success and won the Little Mo's International Tournament last month and is able to discuss the quick success but also how important making it "fun" really is. And what happens when your other kids aren't finding the same success or even talent or desire as the other players in your family?! 

We also talk about junior gear and finding the right set up for your junior player -- when to switch to bigger racquets, what strings to try, what shoes are best, etc.

Jennifer Edmonson is a pioneer when it comes to wheelchair tennis. More than 25 years ago, she volunteered at the Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge, La. Five years after that, she took on the role of tournament director. And since, she has been helping change lives and grow the sport with her passion and involvement in wheelchair tennis.

Just last month, Jennifer was named Wheelchair Tennis Champion of 2021 and her tournament, the Cajun Classic, is a Super Series event on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour and is easily one of the premier wheelchair tennis tournaments in the country, twice winning USTA Southern Wheelchair Tournament of the Year honors.

We loved chatting with Jennifer and know this conversation will give you loads of good vibes as well as some insights and info into the world of wheelchair tennis.
