Nancy Mancias is a doctoral student in Anthropology and Social Change at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She holds a MBA from Dominican University of California and BA in Drama from San Francisco State University. She has worked over 15 years in the non-profit sector, focusing on social services, social justice, and theater. She has volunteered and visited the refugee camps in Greece and Kurdistan, Iraq, and provided migrant support on the US-Mexico border. As an anti-war advocate, Mancias has been actively trying to bring the troops home from their overseas misadventures. She has also been part of the movement against torture and a proponent of closing the prison in Guantanamo.

Cindy is a lifetime activist and organizer focusing on peace, justice, human rights, and the military impacts on the climate crisis. A former cable access television alternative media producer and host, and a US war crimes documentarian, She is the surviving spouse of Vietnam veteran, John Piester, and a founding member of Veterans For Peace Climate Crisis and Militarism Project. She is a Board Member with a national Unitarian organization, a member of WILPF US’ Climate Justice + Women + Peace Project and WILPF’s International Environmental Working Group. Cindy has been calling for cutting the DoD budget and ending perpetual wars that enrich the war industry while depriving all of us the means necessary to urgently mitigate the climate crisis.

Lillian Mauldin is a Founding Board Member of Women for Weapons Trade Transparency. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Thematic Specialist with Amnesty International USA's Military, Security, and Police Transfers Coordination Group. Lillian hopes to continue building a career in policy advocacy.

This week on Talk World Radio, we're discussing nuclear weapons and efforts to abolish them with two activists from the Seattle, Washington, area, Tara Villalba, who organizes with neighbor tenants and workers, and Thomas Rogers who is a former Navy submarine captain now active with the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action. Our guest, Susan Wind, became an environmental advocate after her daughter Taylor was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2017. Through her investigative skill set, she exposed a thyroid cancer cluster in her town along with a dirty secret - builders, contractors and landscapers used Duke Energy's coal ash (instead of soil) as structural fill in communities throughout Lake Norman, NC. This coal ash came from its neighboring coal burning plant (the Marshall Steam Station). While the health department, the state, and the politicians tried to dismiss the issues, Susan Wind continued to build alliances and connections with advocates from all over the country to address the broken system that fails people's health.

Ahmad who is the Director of the Center for the Study of Islam and Decoloniality and teaches Law, Religion, and Global Politics in Islamabad, Pakistan. He does a wide array of consultancy on issues related to international law and international affairs. Junaid is also the founder and Chair of the Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) - Pakistan.

She has a B.S. in Media Management and an M.A. in Globalization & International Development Studies, having completed her dissertation on the importance of freedom of press and information for democratic accountability. Since finishing her M.A. 2019, she has gained professional certifications in maximizing community impact and non-profit management. She is a passionate advocate for peace, youth work, critical discourse and education. A former English (ESL) teacher, she is also passionate about using communications technologies (ICT's) to promote access to quality education, with specific experience teaching and working with refugees in the U.S. and internationally, and community development projects in places like Makati City, Philippines and San Salvador, El Salvador.
