Delores Carter is the owner of The Learning Dog Academy in Whitmore
Lake Michigan. She has a certification in applied animal behavior from the
University of Washington, is a specialist in fear free training and also has
been certified to teach by The Karen Pryor Academy. Delores explains how
positive reinforcement training works, the difference between training and
understanding a dogs behavior and how that difference allows her to give
hope to owners that were at the end of the rope. Later she talk about
areas she has to work on with her own dogs and the trap of expecting
your new dog to act like previous dogs. She also give tips on how to find a
trainer that can help you develop a positive bond and ability to
communicate with your dog. Finally she spills some tea on working with Mark and Jax and who's been the biggest challenge. on the road to breakthroughs.

talked him into going to the mall to “buy some jeans.” Little did he know
he would come home with Watson, a miniature Aussie Shepard just before
the pandemic hit. Jeff shares the challenges the family faced raising a
pandemic puppy, how one night Watson would actually save his wife's life

Sherry Lankston lives in Seattle Washington and was “doom-scrolling” late
one night when she found a picture of Harvey, a husky who had been at
the San Diego Department of Animal Services for the past six months.
Bright and early the next morning when Sherry called and found out why
no one had even asked to him out of his cage for six months she couldn’t
believe it. After a short conversation with her husband who couldn’t come
she loaded up her boys and first dog, River, for a 3 day road trip over
1,200 miles to meet Harvey face to face. Sherry also shares how Harvey
has been beating the odds since he was a puppy, how the family is doing
today and how she hopes Harvey’s story can inspire others. This story is a
great example of what can happen sometimes when we listen to our
hearts about a dog.

In our first full episode, we talk with Gloria Blankenship, who tells us about two of her favorite dogs, Blu and Rusty.  Gloria bought Blu, a Weimaraner, sight unseen and they didn't meet until she picked him up at the airport.  Blu turned into a incredible dog that could win any neighbor over even when he got mischievous.  He developed a special bound with Gloria's mom  especially when her health began to fail and would stay by her bed thru her final days.  Rusty is a handsome Golden Retriever who in addition to being co-owner of Gloria's on line resale store, has become a bit of a internet model as he displays some of the items Gloria sells.  Enjoy Gloria's stories of two great dogs!
