The boys are coming in smooth on this holiday Monday with an episode named after a great all around player - Patrice Bergeron! He amassed almost 1100 points during his career, played exclusively with the Boston Bruins, but perhaps is known best as the top shut down centre man of is generation, garnering 6 Selke trophies.
Then in a nod to ol' Patrice, we talk about upcoming roster possibilities for the 2025 Team Canada Four Nation's Cup roster - who's in, who's out, who is on the bubble and who should be a lock!
Pack-A-Day habit is the 1990-91 O-Pee-Chee set - we both have some stellar pulls and eat some 30 year old gum.
We're getting into the weird numbers here kids, not gonna lie - our other options today were Mike Eagles and J.J. Daigneault! We think that we made the right pick though going with rugged customer Matthew Barnaby - he caused problems for opposing players during stops in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Colorado, Chicago and Dallas and caused a few problems for himself off the ice!
We spend period two doing a fun little re-draft of the first dozen picks from the 2016 NHL draft - sure Auston still goes #1, but the rest of those first twelve is a bit of a shake up and a fun exercise to be sure. Plus, we predict an old pal to the Jets at #18!
On Pack-A-Day habit, we've got one of the nicest sets ever - the 1990-91 Upper Decks that honestly changed the hockey card game forever!
After a 2 week break, your favourite hockey talkin' duo is back with season 6, episode 35 - the Moog! Ol' Andy had a pretty stellar career across 18 season, winning 3 cups and backstopping some great Oilers, Bruins and Stars teams to 372 career victories - he capped it all off with a final season in Montreal, something that co-host Jared had completely forgotten about!
Then, we talk about a summer of (in)activity from your Winnipeg Jets and discuss what the next contract looks like for Cole Perfetti. Plus we tip our caps farewell to Joe Pavelski, and sing sayonora to Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Our pack-a-day habit this week is 1994-95 O-Pee-Chee Premiere!
Say hey, it's Canada Day and the boys are here for a supersized episode named after a smallish goalie who put up big stats - John Vanbiesbrouck aka The Beezer!
We'll talk Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the initial Four Nation Cup player announcements, a brief discussion this year's Hall Of Fame Class and then we talk about player movement - draft picks, trades and free agency, oh my!
The boys are back at it this week to talk all about one of the greatest to ever play between the pipes - number thirty-three, the great Patrick Roy! He backstopped the Habs to 2 cups and then after a controversial trade, backstopped the Avalanche to 2 more! He's near the top of the heap in pretty much every 'tendy stat that there is and is a certified legend!
We also talk the flurry of moves this week - Markstrom to the Garden State and PLD goes to Washington - plus, have your Jets hit a Rut(ger) when it comes to signing the Michigan phenom?
Plus, we've got a fresh stack of wax packs and tear into some 1994-95 Score cards!
We're back at it this week, talking about a prototypical pest, Caps/Nordiques legend Dale Hunter! He holds the record amongst 1000 pt producers with almost 3300 minutes in penalties - he enjoyed his time in the sin bin so much that when they retired his number, the Capitals gave him one of the old penalty boxes from the Capital Centre!
We also talk about a potential flicker of life in Edmonton after an emphatic win in Game 4 of the Cup finals, plus some upcoming off-season rumblings - basically we talk about whether or not the Jets will trade Nikolaj Ehlers once again!
And on this week's Pack-A-Day segment, the great 1990 Pro Set series one cards are ripped and we pull some real beauties!
We’re back with another new episode, uncharted waters as we’ve never gotten to 31 before!
The fellas are talkin’ some Grant Fuhr, perhaps the best goalie of all time?!?! There's a couple of others who could lay claim, but he was certainly the best of the 80's - amassing 4 cups and a boatload of other accolades as he backstopped those great Oiler's squads in 'tendy tandems with Andy Moog and last week's feature, Billy Ranford!
We're talkin’ some Oilers/Panthers Stanley Cup Finals, but we've only got game #1 to go on, since they're slowplayin' the finals! Plus some 4 Nations Cup chatter and we weight in on the Utah team name finalists.
On Pack-A-Day, we rip into some 1991-92 Parkhursts - another sweet looking card!
We're back this week to tell ya about Bill Ranford - two time cup winner for the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers, and and absolute beast in international play! He was a quality stand-up 'tendy who always looked stellar on a hockey card and kept it clean between the pipes!
We also talk about co-host Tom's newfound dental adventures as well as updates on the quest for Lord Stanley, who hoisted the first ever Walter cup awarded to the PWHL champions, and who's set to face off for the Memorial Cup!
Plus on this week's Pack-A-Day habit, we open up some 1991-91 Upper Deck High Series cards, and they're some real beauties!
Hey hey, it's Monday and the boys are here with episode 29, it's everyone's favourite pallindrome - the OTTO! That's right we talk all about this defensive stalwart who was top notch at the face-off dot, Bemidji State all-timer Joel Otto (not co-host Jared, in case you were wondering!)
Then we break down the predicted coaching hire for the Jet's, Scott Arniel and start to wade through the Athletic's Jets Off-Season fan poll.
Plus we open up packs of 1992 O-Pee-Chee Premier cards on Pack-A-Day!
We're back this week talking about offensively gifted defenseman, a great #28, Steve Duchesne! He may have kept his suitcase packed, but he put up a lot of points for a few teams, and seemed like a heckuva nice guy!
We also discuss the playoffs to date, as we wait for the 4th partner to join the final four dance on the eve of the Canucks-Oilers game 7. We do a quick recap of the PWHL and the World Hockey Championships...
Pack-A-Day this week is 1990 Score and we pull some real beauties!
