Talkin' Jacks

Ben is back from vacation and the Independence lost. It was a rough week.

The boys couldn’t get it done in Atlanta or Birmingham which prevented us from staying in the playoff positions (it’s still early, don’t panic.)

We discuss the games and why we just can’t seem to play well on the road. We also answer listener questions and complain a lot about our small squad of players.

Hope you enjoy!

Thank you for listening!

BEATLESS IS BACK BABAAYYYYYYY

In part 1 of this episode we chat with Matt Bird from the St. Louiligans and the This Is Silly podcast! Topics include their magical run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, their dip in form in the league and what we might expect from them in Saturday’s match.

We also discuss the Independence’s double game week last week. We spent more time breaking down the 1-1 draw in Cary and spend considerably less time discussing the 1-0 win against a very different looking Pittsburgh squad.

In part 3 we get to some listener questions about the MVP of the season, Valentin Sabella and the Jim McGuinness experiment.

The Jacks put on another solid performance and win the game 1-0 against Memphis 901 FC. The goal was scored by Jorge Herrera and assisted by Enzo Martinez!

We break down the game and spend a lot of time answering your listener questions while also spending some time previewing the week to come against NCFC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The Jacks split the points at Slugger Field by a score of 1-1. We opened the scoring with one of the best goals we’ve scored all year and fought like hell to preserve our lead, but Luke Spencer put away a mis-hit clearance to tie it late.

We break down the goals, who’s stock is rising under Mike Jeffries and we answer listener questions about players returning from the Gold Cup and how we might look to replace Andrew Gutman.

Mike Jeffries is back on the touchline, Enzo Martinez and Jorge Herrera are back on the scoresheet. All is seemingly back to normal, at least for this week. The Jacks won 4-1 over Birmingham Legion FC in a comprehensive performance. We break it down and talk about if we think what we saw on Saturday was a flash in the pan or a glimpse at the future.

We are back after a week of no podcasts (thanks a lot audio gods.)

The Independence drew Swope Park Rangers 0-0, though they did score, it was ruled offside (yes, we talk about it for a while) and Brandon Miller had a great performance in goal. Overall, it was one of the better performances for the Jacks this year, and we feel a little hard done by to not leave with all 3 points.

In the listener questions segment we talk about new signing Valentin Sebella, whether we think the Jacks will make a mid-season coaching change and talk about some of the players who seem to be on the outside looking in right now.

Thank you for listening!
