Talkin' Jacks

Talkin’ Jacks Extra is back with Joe Goldstein from Red Bulls News Network and Raising Red Bulls podcast!

Joe casually lets us know that this is the most talented NYRBII side since the 2016 team that won the title and many consider to be the best USL team in the modern era. Another easy game for the Jacks to start the year off…

Joe also gives us the scoop on which players to watch out for, where Charlotte could look to beat them and how they can take advantage of Charlotte’s perceived weaknesses through the first handful of games.

Thanks to Joe for joining us! His work can be found at Raising Red Bulls on the Beautiful Game Network and wherever podcasts can be found, as well as www.rbnn.us!

Thank you for listening!

Come on you Jacks!

The Independence fell away in Charleston 2-0. We discuss the Jacks’ good start and then what went wrong after that. Alex was disappointed by the shift in tactics in the second half that led to only 2 shots before Charleston scored their second goal.

Goose tries to focus on the positives (what’s new?) and we answer listener questions while discussing the bigger picture of our slow start.

Thank you for listening!

It’s the very first Southern Derby Cup match of 2019 and we spoke with Drew Bartow to get the scoop on the Charleston Battery!

Charleston is off to a fast start after being overlooked by a portion of USL media in the pre-season. Drew gave us a couple of players to watch out for in Zeiko Lewis and Romario Piggot, both wide players who have a nose for goals and assists.

Drew also told us what he knows about the rumored sale of MUSC Health Stadium and what that could mean for the future of the Charleston Battery.

You can read Drew's work at defendcharleston.soccer.

We look forward to seeing our boys take on the boys from Charleston on Sunday!

Thank you for listening!

On this episode of Talkin’ Jacks, we had to wait a day to record because everything was so wet from watching the game on Saturday! Speaking of Saturday, the Jacks went down 1-0 to a stout St. Louis FC in a game that played out almost exactly as we expected it to.

We broke down what happened on the goal, and what - if anything - the Independence could have done to get a better result in the end.

Finally, we covered the news of Bilal Duckett’s retirement and the Charlotte Hounds announcing a 2 year hiatus and what impact that could have on the Independence.

Thank you for listening!
