September is almost over, which means we're into the last three months of the year. It's Oscar time people! Dom is joined my Ms. Filmingo to discuss what was probably one of the most unexpected yet enjoyable movie experiences of the year so far, that being Dumb Money! The next film from "I, Tonya" director Craig Gillespie takes a look at the lives of several people during the events of February 2021 during the Gamestop Wall Street Short Squeeze. It features a massive ensemble cast, including Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, Shailene Woodley, Seth Rogen, Anthony Ramos, America Ferrara, Myah'lha Herrold, Talia Ryder, Dane DeHaan, Sebastian Stan, Vincent D'Onofrio & Nick Offerman. Dom & Kristen break down why they loved this movie, why it's the spiritual successor to the Social Network & the Big Short and why it deserves to be talked about. All of that and more as we continue to break down new movies leading to the end of 2023 and our fifth season, only on the #talkintvpodcast
People...WE DID IT! WE HIT 200 EPISODES!!!!!! I can't believe that we finally made it, but we did. If you had told me back in 2019 that we would be here in 2023, let alone have made 200 episodes of the podcast, I would have told you we were crazy for even trying this again. But this is a special episode, because Chris "TV Nerd" Evanko has returned from his extra long hiatus away from the show to co-host this extra special episode with Dom, which also features a celebrity panel of all the people who have helped continue to keep this podcast alive over the last year and a half. These names include Eli Holicky, Nathaniel Ahart, Math Teacher Movies, M&K Productions, Luk Reviews, Unyolo Movie Blogs & Dustin "The Duster" Mason. It's a wild time where they reminisce about all things that have happened in the history of the podcast along with a sneak peak of what's to come. It's all happening here on our 200th episode, here's to 200 more, only on the #talkintvpodcast now go watch some more f**king movies!!!!!!
It's another Hall of Fame, but arguably the biggest and most important one we've ever done. We've covered a lot of big directors on this channel, from Michael Bay to Paul Thomas Anderson to Christopher Nolan to David fincher & more. But today, Nathaniel Ahart and newcomer Ryan Maguire join up with Dom to talk about the one, the only, the great Martin Scorsese. They each break down their favorite movies from this legendary director before they combine their respective lists together for one, epic hall of fame. It's an episode for the ages that you guys do not want to miss, only on the #talkintvpodcast
We're heading into the fall, and we're in that weird time period where summer is over, but it's still warm out. People are already getting their Halloween decorations out but you can still go to the beach. It's a weird time for sure, so we decided to pull out all the stops and have some fun. We've got a lot of excellent movies from some of our favorite filmmakers coming out later on in the year, and Dom is joined by his good friend Nathaniel Ahart in the first part of a dual collaboration series covering some of their favorite filmmakers, the first of which is none other than the legend himself, Hayao Miyazaki! The co-founder of Studio Ghibli who himself has directed several numerous incredible animated efforts, as well as being the only sole animated auteur filmmaker. Dom & Nathaniel break down every one of his films and rank them in the latest episode of the #talkintvpodcast
Alas, all good things must come to an end. The summer is officially over, and with it, the summer movie season. Dom is joined by his two Succession co-hosts, Eli Holicky & Dustin "the Duster" Mason, to go over everything the summer of 2023 had to offer, from the slate of movies to the inherent quality of films and whether it even matters, to the various and assorted strikes that raged throughout Hollywood, to the unexpected box office surprises, to what their most unexpected thing that happened was. It's a long one, but a worthwhile one as we recap everything that happened during the summer of 2023 only on the #talkintvpodcast
The summer is winding down, and we've got one more blockbuster to wrap up the summer season. Unfortunately, it's from DC, but the good news is that it's an origin story that's almost entirely divorced from what came before. Dom is joined once again by Dontre aka DJ Tarantino to discuss the latest film from DC, Blue Beetle starring Xolo Mariduena from Cobra Kai as Jaime Reyes, a hispanic American who is unintentionally chosen as the inheritor of an alien scarab that bonds itself to him and allows him to become the Blue Beetle. The movie certainly had its fair share of flaws, but is a welcome breath of fresh air as far as the stench of DC is concerned. Dontre & Dom break down everything going on in the movie and the wider DC-verse as a whole in this brand new episode of the #talkintvpodcast
It's the movie event of the summer! And possibly the last, with the ongoing SAG-Aftra strike causing an industry wide shutdown and preventing stars from doing press, attending premieres, promoting or starring in any of the films they star in. Several films have been delayed with productions grinding to a halt, which makes the double release that occured this weekend even more special, with the simultaneous release of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" and Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer." One is a pastel fueled, feminist take on a toy icon, the other is a dreary, existential biopic about one of America's most important yet unknown figures. I'll let you guys figure out which is which. Dom is joined by Luk Reviews and first time guest Luisa Tascone to break down these two wildly different movies, what makes this event so huge and more on today's episode of the #talkintvpodcast
The next mission has arrived. Dom is joined by Luk of Luk Reviews to break down one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, following in the wave that Top Gun: Maverick set last summer for Cruise as the anointed savior of Hollywood, the 7th film in the Mission Impossible series, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. The Mission Impossible series has been going on a long time, since the 90's, and up until recently has featured a different director bringing their unique style to each film, the likes of which have included Brian DePalma, John Woo, JJ Abrams & Brad Bird. This is the third Mission Impossible movie directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and this time sees Cruise's Ethan Hunt going up against an enemy the likes of which they've never faced before: artificial intelligence. No, I am not making that up. Dom & Luk break down exactly what makes this entry different than the last few entries, whether the changes are really worth it, and what the lasting impact of this franchise will ultimately be going forward. All of that & more on the #talkintvpodcast
A rather necessary surprise. Dustin "The Duster" Mason joins Dom to talk about one of the most unexpected surprises of the year: an R-rated studio comedy that went to theaters and was hysterically funny. Despite not being as good as some of the gems we've gotten in the past, "Joy Ride" the directorial debut of Adele Lim, with a script by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong & Teresa Hsiao, sees four Asian American women journeying throughout China in search of one of their birth mothers, as the one girl, Audrey (Ashley Park) was adopted by white parents as an infant. The film delivers with a rock solid cast, a simple enough premise and enough laughs to keep people going for the brisk, tight 90 minutes. Dom & Dustin compare this to some of their favorite comedies of the past, why studios seem so afraid to touch comedy now, and what exactly the key is to bringing one of people's favorite genres of film back. All of this and more every week on the #talkintvpodcast
