Synchronic is an American science fiction horror film directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Morehead. The film stars Anthony Mackie (The Falcon & the Winter Soldier) and Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey) as two paramedics who find themselves dealing with a series of strange and bizzare deaths and overdoses, all seemingly related to a new designer drug known only as Synchronic. It eventually leads them to discover that the pills allow for a form of time travel, with Mackie's character Steve taking it on himself to pursue Dornan's daughter when she disappears due to the pills. The film initially premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, before being picked up by Well GO USA Entertainment for an October 2020 theatrical premiere before dropping on Netflix this weekend. It certainly is a coincidence how, despite this not being a Netflix original, it ends up having a remarkably similar premise to something Netflix put out last year during the pandemic, Project Power. The #talkintv boys break down this coincidence, along with how certain specifics of the time travel as well as the fact that this directing team are actually directing the upcoming Marvel Disney+ show Moon Knight! #nobody #nobodymovie #bobodenkirk Saul meets John Wick | Nobody Movie Review #nobody #nobodymovie #nobodyreview #nobodynewmovie #nobodyaction #johnwick #bobodenkirk #nobodyreaction #nobodymoviereview On tonight's episode of the #talkintvpodcast, Dom & Chris break down a movie they were actually able to go to the theater to see, Bob Odenkirk's new film, Nobody! The film is written by Derek Kolstad, the writer of the three John Wick movies, and is directed by Ilya Naishuller. The film is extremely similar to John Wick, with one extreme twist in that Bob Odenkirk is able to channel this innate sense of insecurity in order to make it that much more surprising when his character finally throws down. We also discuss the role the John Wick movies and this movie has in the current sub genre of other movies, in relation to modern action movies like Mission Impossible and of course, the Marvel movies. We sit down with Matt from Basic Entertainment and Professor Pat Huber to break down everything going into the making of this, to our thoughts on the actual movie itself, to our thoughts on the future of content from the always surprising DC and Warner Bros. We talked about everything from the social media response to what happened behind the scenes to whether Joss Whedon was actually to blame. We also talked about Snyder's polarizing nature as a director and how that led to some of the early clashes between him & DC, and how that inadvertently led to Marvel having virtually no competition for the next 5 years at that point. There was a lot talked about as is befitting this behemoth of a movie, and we hope you enjoy our discussion on it almost as much as you guys all enjoyed this movie, because as we all know now, #snydercutreleased It's all covered here on Talkin' TV!!!

On today's episode of the Talkin' TV podcast, we covered Cherry, the new film from Apple TV+ and Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony & Joe Russo! The two have had an interesting career, getting their start in the late '90s when their short was noticed by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney, who helped them get their first feature Welcome to Collinwood off the ground. After a stumbling block and a comedy that nobody remembers called You, Me & Dupree, the two of them effectively got off to revolutionizing TV with shows like Arrested Development and Community before their Marvel track began. With their first feature effort post Endgame, the two decided to go in a very personal direction by adapting Nico Walker's book about life post the military that was riddled with heroin addiction. Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo star as a couple who find themselves going through the pitfalls of late adolescence and transitioning into early adulthood, and tackles an area and a class of people that the country has largely forgotten about. Dom and Chris tackle all these and more, including whether the Russos first effort post Endgame really demonstrated their talents effectively, as well as whether some of the more heart-wrenching parts of the movie made up for some of the more problematic elements.
