Talking About Art on Friday May 24 from 0830-0900 at KMUZ 88.5FM. Our guest was Dr. Paul Klemme, Music Director of the Willamette Master Chorus.

Paul Klemme is presently in his 11th year as Director of the Willamette Master Chorus. His full-time position is Director of Music Ministries at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salem, Oregon, where he conducts four choirs and serves as parish organist. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington and was a member of the Washington State University faculty from 1988-1997. He also served as conductor of the Washington-Idaho Symphony Chorale in Pullman, Washington from 1990-1996 and the Spokane Symphony Chorale from 1997-1998. In addition to his busy schedule of organ performances, he is a member of Oregon Bach Festival Chorus. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at Willamette University where he directs Male Ensemble Willamette and teaches organ.

Talking About Art on Friday April 12 from 0830-0900. Eric Wuest’s guest is Cynthia Herron…painter and teacher. Her new show at the Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery located at Chemeketa Community College is entitled “Tuition and Intuition”. Opening reception will be on Wednesday April 10 from 1230-1430….the show runs through May 10. The attached photo of the artist’s work is entitled Downhill Trees” 20″ x 24″ oil and cold wax on panel.

Our guest this morning was Roger Hull….Professor Emeritus for Willamette University and Senior Faculty Curator for the Hallie Ford Museum of Art.

Roger talks about the upcoming artist panel discussion “Manuel Izquierdo: A Legacy” on Sunday, March 24th at 2 pm at the Hallie

Ford Museum of Art. This is the LAST day of the exhibit that has been running since January 19th.

The artist panel, moderated by Professor Emeritus Roger Hull, will discuss the significance and history of Oregon sculptor Manuel Izquierdo. The panel includes SW Washington sculptor James Lee Hansen, Salem sculptor and Willamette University Professor Emeritus Robert Hess, and Oregon sculptors Lee Imonen and Bill Blix.

Bill Blix is probably best recognized by his Welded Bronze sculpture, Oregon Capitol Fountain, installed 1980.

Talking About Art, Friday March 8 from 0830-0900 Eric’s guest is Helen Nute Wiens, owner/artist of Calusa Studio in downtown Salem and the Art Canvas reporter for Salem Weekly/Willamettelive ….We are discussing the Arts culture of the mid-valley and the different developing groups that are making it happen….

Today, Eric talks about the Salem Weekly article about “Talking About Art” by Salem Weekly writer Helen Nute Wiens. Eric discusses  and reads from one of his favorite book about art, “The Everyday Work of Art” by Eric Booth. Eric also chats with his Production Engineer, Phil Krug, about Artists in Action and what is being planned for 2013.
