On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino from Buffalo Rumblings to discuss day three of the Buffalo Bills/NFL free agency period, or day one if you really want to be technical, with the Bills continuing to add to their depth with another signee not expected to start.
After adding former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nicholas Morrow on Tuesday to presumably take on Tyrel Dodson's role, the Bills dipped their toes into free agency again on Wednesday morning and signed Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mack Hollins. The six-year pro was with Atlanta last year and had 18 catches in 13 games. He had his best season in 2022 with Vegas, catching 57 passes for 690 yards and four touchdowns. He's a good run blocker and core special teams player and is likely projected to be this year's (hopefully improved" version of Trent Sherfield. The guys have their takes on him, including Patrick citing a source that really talks up Hollins as both a good football player and a "good fkn dude."
Also, there's rumors of the Bills being tied to recently released defensive tackle Arik Armstead. Could the Bills land a pretty big-name guy to help the interior of the defense?
They also spend time giving their thoughts on some former Bills and their landing spots so far, including Mitch Morse, Gabe Davis, Jordan Poyer and Leonard Floyd.
Also, they highlight what they most like like and dislike about the Bills right now, is Buffalo hoping Cam Lewis can be the 2024 Terrel Bernard, notice that Miami has taken some steps back with personnel and much more.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran reacts to the second day of NFL free agency, highlighted for the Buffalo Bills by re-signing star defensive end DaQuan Jones to a two-year deal and their first outside addition.
Monday overnight into Tuesday morning saw the Bills bring back the 32-year old Jones on a two-year deal that reportedly comes in around $16 million. Patrick has plenty thoughts on the re-signing and considering he's been saying on this show for weeks that bringing back Jones was his single-biggest priority if it were up to him, they're as positive as expected. A healthy Jones even at his age is big boost to the defense because not only can he still play at a high level, but he elevates other guys around him like Ed Oliver and Terrell Bernard.
Patrick also has a collection of thoughts on the Bills also bringing back defensive end AJ Epenesa and safety Cam Lewis, both returning to significant depth roles and in the case of Lewis, could even get a crack at taking over for Micah Hyde, pending on how the rest of the offseason plays out.
The Bills did dip into the free agent market outside of the team, inking Philadelphia linebacker Nicholas Morrow to a one-year deal. Patrick shares what he's learned about him so far, making it easy to assumption he's a depth replacement for Tyrel Dodson.
Also, Jordan Poyer signed with Miami on Tuesday and that's sure to cause some hard feelings. That plus the Sabres are still alive--maybe even very much alive and more.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, NFL free agency started and Patrick Moran is joined in studio by friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks to discuss a mostly uneventful start to free agency for the Buffalo Bills but an absolutely wild opener around the league.
We didn't have to wait long to find the destinations of some key now former Bills---with both Gabe Davis and Mitch Morse landing in Jacksonville and Leonard Floyd going to San Francisco. It's a reminder that the departures will likely hurt the Bills regardless of how the rest of the offseason plays out.
The Bills did retain two of their own on day one, re-signing Cam Lewis to a two-year deal worth $4 million and defensive end AJ Epenesa to a two-year deal as well that maxes out at $20 million. The guys react to the Bills moves and Patrick admits at least moderate surprise that Epenesa is back.
They also have at least a few thoughts on some of the wildness around the NFL on Monday that saw several star players switch teams, including Christian Wilkins, Kirk Cousins, Saquan Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard, Bryan Huff via free agency in addition to Brian Burns and Carlton Davis in trades.
That plus are the Miami Dolphins already in huge trouble for 2024 and much more.

On this episode, it's go time for the Buffalo Bills and NFL free agency season and Patrick Moran's joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including what they're expecting from Bills general manager Brandon Beane to keep his roster entrenched in the AFC championship mix.
After releasing several veterans before the start of free agency, including Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, Tre White, Deonte Harty and Siran Neal not to mention several pending Bills free agents that'll be lost to other teams, Beane's got a lot of work to do and not a lot of cap room to do it. He will have to mostly go the cheap route and/or get creative with trades. The guys have their own takes on what they hope Beane will do to add talent though free agency, trades and the draft.
They also discuss a clip from Mad Dog Radio's Adam Schein that went viral, calling the Bills past three seasons "an utter waste of time." Do they agree and if so, to what extent?
On the Sabres side they discuss Kyle Okposo's departure and argue how he should be remembered as a Sabres. They also have opinions on what Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News said on this show last week about the team having a recruiting a problem again and then see that conversation evolve into sports media talk.
That plus a few questions from fans of the show answered and much more.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over every facet of the Buffalo Bills offseason, starting now on the heels of yesterday's smorgasbord of transactions and going through the NFL draft in late April to come with his version of what would be a realistically perfect Bills offseason.
The Bills aren't in good cap shape (at all) and several huge moves were made this past Wednesday to get within striking distance of functional operating mode. That included the departures of vet core players Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer and Tre White not to mention Deonte Harty and Siran Neal. Even with the added cap space and more certainly to come over the next several days, there's almost certainly not any "big ticket" additions to this roster. That doesn't mean GM Brandon Beane can't come up with ways to stabilize or even improve a 2023 roster that won its fourth consecutive AFC east title.
It starts with keeping your own and there's six guys specifically Patrick thinks Beane should definitely make a strong attempt to keep in the fold.
On the free agent side of things Patrick targets a role player in Houston that could be a perfect fit in the Bills offense and he also locks in on potential replacement for Micah Hyde that shouldn't be overly expensive. After that he welcomes literally any veteran free agent additions to the trenches.
This leads to the draft where Patrick simply cannot resist on jumping on one of the first-round talents at wide receiver---the question is does the one he really likes have enough character concerns to scare Beane away? He then goes heavy on the defensive line with his day two picks.
That and more general discussion on the Bills as the offseason officially got lit on fire this week.

On today's Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to evaluate and discuss a seemingly normal Wednesday afternoon that quickly erupted into a historically chaotic Wednesday as the Buffalo Bills released a trio of incredibly valued big-named players, cut a few more additionally and also redid the contracts of two others. Oh they re-signed David Edwards too. And we think Matt Haack. Not since "Black Thursday" of February 10, 2000 when the Bills cut Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith on the same has there been this kind of single-day impact on a Bills roster.
At around 2pm Wednesday Patrick had wrapped recording a solo podcast for the next day that was focused on his definition of what a realistically perfect Bills offseason would look like. Two hours later that episode, which will never see the light of day was shot to the moon after the Bills released Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse and Tre White in one big swoop over roughly 90 minutes. They also cut special teams standout Siran Neal and wide receiver Deonte Harty while redoing Rasul Douglas's contract for 2024 and getting Von Miller to take what actually accounts to a 2024 pay cut.
In all the Bills gained over $30 million in cap space during the day, not counting $10 million more not available until after June 1 with the Tre White release. While it greatly helps puts general manager Brandon Beane towards much more practical operating procedure heading into free agency it comes with a pretty big price. Morse still looked good at center last season and the unit was not only one of the low-key strengths of the team but also collectively played together all 17 games. His loss will be missed.
So will Jordan Poyer, who came back last year on a two-year deal and while he wasn't the Poyer of old, he played pretty well. Tre White is one of the most popular players in team history and elite cornerback when healthy--the problem is he's now had two major injuries and the Bills have multiple good cornerbacks.
The guys, to some extent stunned, react to it----all of it.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Mike Harrington, longtime writer and columnist for The Buffalo News to partake in a candid discussion about the state of the team he primarily covers, the Buffalo Sabres.
After showing so much promise and missing the postseason by just two points last season, Buffalo has went backwards in a lot of areas, including the standings are now a lock to miss the playoffs for a 13th consecutive season. Mike assesses several reasons why this happened with a woeful power play being one of the biggest. He also talks about how the home game environment inside the arena lacks compared to many other teams around the league, with an emphasis on the Sabres dull game day experiences not being the fault of fans. He also surmises that Buffalo should cut down on their afternoon matinee games in effort to improve the atmosphere.
In the wake of New Jersey just firing former Sabres long-time coach Lindy Ruff, Mike has opinions on if he thinks Ruff reuniting with Buffalo could be a possibility if Terry Pegula does fire Don Granato after the season, citing that Ruff had interest in the Buffalo job in 2019 before then-general manager Jason Botterill chose Ralph Krueger for the job.
The guys also talk about the pleasant surprise UPL has been in net and spend a little time imaging what the city of Buffalo would feel like if they finally won either a Super Bowl or Stanley Cup. That and plenty more.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Zach "Maniac" Sheldon from Trainwreck Sports to discuss several topics focused on the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and perhaps some professional rasslin' as well.
It's been a little over three years since Maniac's been a guest on this show and after a few minutes of exchanging pleasantries and small talk, the guys dive into the Bills in what feels like the calm before the storm. NFL free agency starts in less than a week and the Bills still currently sit at around $40 million over the cap. Josh Allen will surely have his deal restructured which will wipe out more than half the deficit, but other moves are going to have to be made. The guys discuss a few things that may potentially happen over the next week and if any of them may come off as big surprises.
They then turn their attention to free agency and their vision on what Brandon Beane realistically can and will be able to do.
On the Sabres front, it's another lost season as the team's sitting a full 10 points out of the playoffs with only 20 games left to play. Is Don Granato on the hot seat? Should he be? Could the sudden firing of Lindy Ruff in New Jersey have any bearing on a potential Terry Pegula decision about Granato?
They also talk a little AEW/WWE, give their booking for the main event of Wrestlemania and plenty more.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest and frenemy Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, most notably trying to figure out if Stefon Diggs' production is headed towards the edge of a cliff or if the back half of last season was an anomaly.
Diggs has been unbelievably great in totality during his first four seasons in Buffalo. In fact, he's pretty much re-written the team's record books when it comes to receptions and yards. However, his production completely fell into the abyss over the last nine games of this past season including the playoffs, where he failed to crack eight receptions or 88 yards receiving in any of the games and had a hugely uncharacteristic costly drop in the fourth quarter of the playoff loss. The guys examine what's going on with Diggs and if the productivity nose dive was more an element of the offensive coordinator in-season switch and schemes or if it's more Diggs suffering from simply getting older (he'll be 31 this season) and tons of wear and tear on him physically. They also discuss the significance of adding more and better pass catchers on the roster regardless of what Diggs' future holds and speaking of, they also debate on when the time Diggs won't be in Buffalo may come.
They also discuss a little Buffalo Sabres hockey after the team's been on a heater of late, a shout-out to local media member Jonah Bronstein, some Coach Dickerson stories and much more today.

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it's Fan Friday and Patrick Moran is answering and replying to a bunch of comments and questions focused primarily on the Bills and Sabres submitted from listeners and watchers of the show in this weekly fan-driven segment.
It's always fun to speculate and make bold predictions and that's exactly what happens right off the bat when a listener asks Patrick to come up with three bold offseason predictions from both a Buffalo Bills and NFL standpoint. It leads to him predicting one prominent pending free agent will sign with the team while another heads to the NFL south and a new addition comes from the AFC's top seed this past season.
There's plenty more Bills talk on this episode as well, including the never-ending Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes comparison and differing opinions of Buffalo's coaching and football philosophy.
Of course there's some Sabres submissions as well and as you could guess, they're not positive. This week's crops futures a few boiling point frustration level takes from people who've been fans of the team since longer than most of us have been alive. That, plus Patrick reveals who he thinks is the most underrated podcaster in the Buffalo market and much more.
