  • Paul J. Kim Returns!
The great Paul J. Kim has returned to the podcast! A fantastic Catholic speaker, specializing in youth and young adult ministry, Paul was in South Jersey for four presentations last week and was kind enough to take an hour out of his very busy schedule to sit-down with us and chat about what life has been like since he last joined us (you can check out his first appearance on the podcast here: https://soundcloud.com/talkingcatholic/paul-j-kim). Like many of us, he migrated to the Zoom world during the pandemic but he’s back on the road now and bringing his many talents (music, comedy, inspirational talks) to communicate the message of Christ to people in a way that is engaging, entertaining, and altogether life-changing.

  • Larry Furey
The school year is officially in full swing and our schools are enjoying a great start! To take a deeper dive into Catholic education beyond the classrooms, hosts Mike Walsh and Marianela Nunez are joined by guest host Mike Bress to talk with Larry Furey, Founder and Partner at Partners in Mission, a full-service consulting and professional education firm focused exclusively on developing excellence in Catholic school advancement and leadership. Topics range from Larry’s 30 years of experience in Catholic education, trends in Catholic school enrollment and fundraising, and how important it is for schools to develop relationships with their families throughout their lives, not just while in school. It is an uplifting and informative conversation about the importance of Catholic education and helping our school thrive.

  • Talking Saints - Blessed Carlo Acutis
“To be always close to Jesus, that’s my life plan.”- Blessed Carlo Acutis
In his exhortation on youth, “Christus Vivit” (“Christ Lives”), Pope Francis said called Blessed Carlo a perfect example of one who “used the new communications technology to transmit the Gospel, to communicate values and beauty.”
In their latest Talking Saints, hosts Laurie and Pete reveal the life of this 21 century Catholic Italian teen who began a website devoted to Eucharistic miracles (http://www.miracolieucaristici.org), loved the rosary, and was a witness of faith to his family and friends.
Sadly, he passed away in 2006 at the age of 15 from leukemia, but his fervent faith and love of the Real Presence continue to inspire the young and old, especially now in this time of Eucharistic Revival for the United States.
Blessed Carlo Acutis, patron of youth, pray for us!

Meet Cheyenne Schuster, Sean Farrell and Helen Polzer on this week’s Talking Catholic podcast as they sit down with Mike and Jen to discuss how they’re ministering to the youth and young adults in the Diocese of Camden. With Dr. Lee DelleMonache, diocesan religious education director, at their side, they talk about their passion projects and how faith is a lifelong adventure.

  • Talking Saints - St. Jerome
“What Saint Jerome is ignorant of, no mortal has ever known.”
From Saint Augustine’s lips poured these words describing this month’s featured saint- a student and scripture scholar with not only an intense devotion to the Lord, but a frequent bad temper and biting pen.  Critical of others, he was more severe towards his own shortcomings.
Above all, though, it is Saint Jerome’s dogged search for the truth that inspires Laurie and Pete, as they reveal the life and witness of this 4th and 5th century patron of Biblical scholars, students, and translators.
    Saint Jerome, pray for us!

  • Mary Rowan
[Producers Note: This episode is not an ad for Cold Stone Creamery, however, we started talking to our guest about her store and, well, you’re going to learn a lot about the business :) However, don’t miss our conversation with our guest about her spirituality and how it’s buoyed her during the tough times.]
We love to highlight Catholic business owners. We love it even more if they own a place of business that serves food and they have us sample their products on air! On this episode of Talking Catholic, co-hosts Mike Walsh and Kari Janisse, got to sample one of their favorite desserts - ice cream - as they interview Cold Stone Creamery franchise owner, Mary Rowan. Mary shares about her faith journey and how opening this unique shop helped her deepen her faith! During the conversation, Mary opened her heart and her ice cream gallons to Mike and Kari.

  • Catechist Sunday 2022
The Church celebrates Catechetical Sunday this weekend, and to honor the hard work of our catechists, Mike and Jen sit down with two who have spent most of their life in religious education: Dr. Lee DelleMonache, director of religious education for the Diocese of Camden, and Dolores Mozzillo, director of religious education in Christ the King Parish, Haddonfield.
Lee and Dolores share what makes a good catechist, some of the successes and challenges, and the difference between religious education and sacramental prep. Plus, they discuss the importance of families taking an active role in the parish to help foster what their children are learning in class.

  • Jim and Cheryl Manfredonia
We’re out of The Vault and into a bonafide studio this week as we visit with our friends from Domestic Church Media, Jim and Cheryl Manfredonia. The wonderful duo - who broadcast our pokey little show on their radio stations, app, and website - were kind enough to sit down with Jen and Mike to chat about how they met, their faith and what motivates them to broadcast the faith to the people.
As a special treat, we also talk a bit about their upcoming benefit concert supporting DCM, where Jim and their daughter Angela will be singing classics from Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and others, while Cheryl will be sitting in with Summer Swing Orchestra providing the music for the night. All are invited to the concert on Saturday, September 24 at 7 PM in the gorgeous theatre at Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ.
