This particular podcast sheds some light on the issues faced by entrepreneurs and I am extremely grateful for Larissa’s candour regarding her journey as an entrepreneur.

Welcome to the fourth in the Global edition series of Talking Leadership.  Today’s podcast guest is Armin Catovic is an intrepreneur at Ericsson ONE and Founder RadioSense at Ericsson.  Armin provides a breakdown of the difference between an intrepreneur and entrepreneur and his role as a leader within Ericsson.  During the discussion he mentioned that he was not comfortable with the title of leader yet his description of his role as an intrepreneur suggests otherwise.  Armin provides some great insights into his leadership pathway.  As always thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy the podcast.

I am firm believer that we can learn something from other people’s experiences. I have known today’s guest for almost 35 years and I am pleased he agreed to speak on key elements of his leadership experience.  Nick Dore is the Managing Principal of Fisher Dore Lawyers a highly respected criminal legal firm.

Welcome to the third podcast of the global edition of the Talking Leadership. My podcast guest is Donna Wells, the Chief Executive Officer at Finestkind Limited. Being a leader can sometimes feel isolating and Donna’s response was interesting.  On the one hand she noted that leadership is like being a long-distance runner.  She also argued that the leadership pathway does not have to be a lonely one if you can develop networks.  I hope you enjoy the insights shared by Donna and again thank you for listening.

I have worked across all three levels of government in Australia – Federal, State and Local. I am a strong supporter of Local Government and as a result many podcast guests have worked for or continue to work in the sector. Today’s guest, Mark Ogston is the Director and Principal at Leading Roles a Local Government recruitment business.

The discussion provided some interesting insights into the ‘why’ underlying Mark’s pathway as an entrepreneur. What resonated for me was his drive to determine his own agenda within his business based on his values in addition to aligning with the purpose of Local Governments to develop and enhance local communities.

Welcome to the second episode of Talking Leadership’s global edition series of podcasts.  I was fortunate to speak with Piyush Patel the founder of Digital Tutors about his journey as an entrepreneur.  Piyush provided his experiences on his road to being an entrepreneur and outlined the importance of understanding your purpose.

He posed some interesting questions – Is your purpose about making money? Or is it about changing an industry?  Or is it about creating opportunities for others?  Money was definitely not Piyush’s motivator and what I found his focus on valuing the contributions of his family, team and colleagues is that in the end, success will come from a purpose that is positive and informed by experience.

Dr Adrian McCallum is a senior lecturer in the School of Science and Engineering and also holds a position as Manager - Defence Industry Engagement at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  I'll open this podcast description by focusing on elements of Adrian's response to the question of what he might say to a younger version of himself about being an effective leader including - (1) a need to listen more than speak, (b) be less hasty in decision-making, (3) grasp opportunities and (4) empower others.  Adrian's background as an officer in the Australian provides an interesting context in which he developed his leadership skills.

I have nothing but respect for the teaching profession as I have family and friends that are teachers which has given me a different perspective on what teachers do.  I enjoyed speaking with Courtney Bailey, agriculture teacher, regarding her views on leadership as an emerging leader.

Courtney's response regarding whether leaders are born or made was brilliant - anyone can become a leader and that people have a capacity to learn, change and grow.  Well worth a listen from an emerging leader in the teaching profession.
