Talking SMAC

The Spring Sports Playoff Preview Show. We break down all the MPSSAA Spring Sports Playoffs for the SMAC in all of the sports across all of the classifications. We also speak with some head coaches of teams that could make a deep run into the playoffs. We speak with Huntingtowns Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Pike, Calverts Softball Head Coach Robinson, La Platas Baseball Head Coach Childers, and Patuxents Baseball Head Coach Powell. It is a fun episode that we are putting out one day earlier this week to give you a bit more time to get ready for the regional championships on Friday.  

This week we highlight the Charles County Spring Sports Champions, take a look at how the Spring Sports teams in Calvert and St Marys counties are doing, and discuss the MPSSAA approving state playoffs for the Spring. We have conversations with representatives from all 4 Charles County Champions for the Spring Sports including Peggy Kidwell head coach for McDonough Girls Lacrosse, Luke Bayer head coach for La Plata Boys Lacrosse, Morgan Gleason student athlete for La Plata Softball, and Colby Murphy student athlete for La Plata Baseball. We also speak with Philip McCarthy student athlete for Chopitcon Baseball,  and Coach Radford head coach for Northern Softball all about their teams great starts to the Spring Season and the upcoming playoofs. And we talk with Guy Smith  head coach for Huntingtown Baseball about the tragedy that has struck their team this past week and the upcoming playoffs for the spring season in Maryland. This weeks episode is dedicated to the Spring Sports Seasons going on in all of SMAC. We break down the standings in both divisions of SMAC and have great interviews with student athletes and coaches from this season. We speak with Brady Powell from Patuxent Baseball, Jaime Roberts from Stone Softball, Kydese Queen from St Charles Baseball, Head Coach Chris Schoenbauer from Leonardtown Baseball, and Head Boach Pete Kerwin from Huntingtown Boys Lacrosse. We also talk about the potential Spring Sports Playoffs coming for the entire state of Maryland at the end of the season. Jam packed episode, make sure you give it a listen. 

In this week's episode we dedicate the discussion to recruiting and all-star games. On this episode we have two experts in the field of college recruiting. Daryl Willis with Fast Track Recruits talks about the football recruiting landscape, and Terrance Oxendine with Cerebral Basketball talks about the basketball recruiting landscape. Coach Ox from Northern also talks about the Southern Maryland Basketball winter league and the all-star game that followed and we speak with Coach Kevin Barry from La Plata who helped organize the LPYSA Senior Soccer Showcase for the boys and girls senior soccer players of Charles County that is coming up this Monday May 3rd. Fall Re-cap show. This week we look at and speak with the Fall Sports SMAC Champions from St. Mary's/Calvert County. We speak with Northern Volleyball head coach Bobby Gibbons, Huntingtown Field Hockey head coach Shannon Persetic, Huntingtown Girls Soccer head coach Scott Cleary, Northern Cross Country head coach Josh Dawson and Northern Girls Cross Country individual SMAC Champion Hannah Mack, as well as Chopticon Boys Cross Country individual SMAC Champion and runner up Zach and Jeff Wedding. And we take one final look back on the Calvert/St. Mary's Football Season that wrapped up this past week as well.  We also talk about developments in Charles County for both this Spring season and next Fall season as well. Very fun filled and packed episode.

We are back. Took a week off but we are back now. In this week's episode we recap the end of the Fall regular season in St. Mary's and Calvert counties, and preview the start of the spring season in Charles county. We also speak with student-athlete Jordan Ball from North Point, Robert Earl Radford the head Softball Coach at Northern High School, and Mike Mozier the director of the Chesapeake chapter of the USA Lacrosse organization for Girls Lacrosse in Southern Maryland. 

This week we recap all the standings and games going on in the SMAC  Fall sports and Football seasons in St. Marys and Calvert Counties. We talk with Sydney Watson, former multi-sport star from Calvert now playing Women's Lacrosse at the University of Connecticut. Great interview, do not miss that. And we also talk with Huntingtown Football after the team's first game and victory of this Spring season, as we speak with Head Coach Paul Friel and athlete Colin Wargo about last week's win, this week's upcoming game, and the rest of the season. 

This week we have 3 Football Games to recap, we speak with two winning teams from last week, Northern and Great Mills Football. We also give a summary of the standings in all Fall Sports in Calvert and St. Marys, and we even talk a little Tennis. We got even more Football. Two games to talk about this week, and we talk to both winning sides. We interview the head coach and players from both Patuxent  Football including Head Coach Allen and his players Adam Commodore and Trent Rocarek, and Calvert Football including Head Coach Sneade and his players Kameron Hawkins, and Sam Atherton. We also have a conversation with Shawna Ganley a girls soccer senior from Huntingtown about her season and upcoming senior night. 

In this week's episode we break down the first Football game back in the SMAC for this new season, and a win for the Leonardtown Raiders. We speak to the winning team, head coach Cunningham, student-athletes Will Johnson and Martin Wilson. We also speak with Girls Lacrosse standout and multi-sport athlete Callie Culhane about getting her spring season back for Girls Lacrosse. And we speak with Sarah Stack, field hockey player at Patuxent, about the start of her fall season and keeping the Stack Sister Legacy going within the Patuxent Field Hockey Family.
