Hollywood is a wash, washed up, and washed out.
Since the golden age of film, Hollywood has been controlled by popularity and who can make studios the most money. So why all the hubbub about actors outside of the race of white not being honored at an event that has shown bias in the past and not exactly pertaining to race. This is all about money. If you have a bankable actor, studios will put forth money to support that person during the promotional phase of the Oscars. They petition by placing ads in Hollywood periodicals and financing every means to help propagandize their product. Also, factor in the fact that most members of the Oscar judgment panel are Hollywood established and therefore are mostly Caucasian -- this does create bias.
But What About The Art...
Isn't it the intention of the Academy to focus on the art of filmmaker and in that sense does it seem somewhat wrong to demonize them for judge what is considered art good enough to be honored as the best of the year. Now think about what I just wrote. Doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth? It does in mine because what we seek every year with this and other awards shows is gratification of what?... Art or the individual (s).
Signs is one of those movies that I can't understand why people dislike. It is not a horrible film. With a-list actors, Mel Gibson and Jaquoin Phoenix, and great performances from Abigail Breslin and Rory Signs is by in large one of the best movies produced in the early 2k. And although there are flaws — show me a movies without mistakes— you can't tack up its poor criticism to a lack of inconsideration by the director but we can argue that maybe the director, M. Night Shyamalan, was the reason why audiences were so torn between whether they liked or disliked this film.
In This EpisodeThe Opening Title Sequence As simple as it were, text over a chilling orchestrated score, this opening was very reminiscent to productions of the forties and fifties where such directors, like, Alfred Hitchcock would set the mood of the film by just introducing the music — that would be featured throughout the film— in the opening credits.
The Animals Why were the dogs so erratic and violent towards the family? Was there as much significance with the birds in this movie as they were in War of The Worlds?
Bo and The Shining The young girl in this movie displays precognitive thinking and the ability to unwilling see into the future (premonitions).
There are similarities to her character and Rachel from War of The Worlds; they are both keen to there environment and seen to be more mature and sensitive to activities which the eyes and ears are unable to perceive.
Signs Bo Has the shining: she is always thirsty but never drinks water. There is always something that disgusts her about the water.
The Alien Invasion is a Metaphor to Dealing With Grief As Graham and his family deal with the death of his wife Colleen, it's hard for Graham to accept that what is happening is true— aliens are real and they are here.
The Two Groups Graham presents to his brother-in-law the theory of two groups of the faithful, those who believe in miracles and those who do not. Which are you? Is it possible there are no miracles and only coincidences?
Provocation of War Did Graham provoke the invasion with his run-in with an alien trapped inside the pantry of his wife's killer?
The recruiter told Meryl that they [the aliens] don't seem hostile but rather curious. If they were hostile, they would have attacked already. Battle lines weren't drawn until the incident at the pantry involving Graham.

Tangets:
Stamen televison show V, the television series War of The Worlds, 2005 The Shining, by Stephen King Allegory and Metaphors Pretty Little Liars The Lost World Twilight Zone episode directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger
Written in 1898 by HG Wells, War of The Worlds is an eyewitness account of an alien vessel crashing to earth and the subsequent strike upon an English countryside by hostile visitors who are believed to hail from the planet Mars. That's right, the original Mars Attacks!
The book is divided into two parts, Book I and Book2. In Book One, the narrator (Who does not have a name; everyone in the book has a title but no name.) retells the story of how he and his stargazing friend witnesses a flash from a distant planet which crash to earth and later wreak havoc upon mankind. Very little was known to whether this is was worldwide occurrence, however, the reader is given insight into the Martian's excursion into the city of London via the accounts dictated to him from his brother's survival within the city that fought back.
Book Two is meat and potatoes as the reader gets to know a lil bit more about the Martians and just how this invasion ends with a kind of thud. I personally found this section quite intriguing as many of the theories presented are present in today's influx in curiosity about the existence of aliens.
This is the second episode of a four-part series in which we discuss the existence of aliens.
Movie Dish of the WeekContact
Jodi Foster has a life long belief that there are other inhabitants out there in space and one day she is proven correct. This movie portrays the plausible events of what could happen if aliens truly exist and attempted to contact Earth’s inhabitants. From the political aspects to the righteous naysayers, this movie depicts how humankind is not and probably never will be ready to acknowledge the existence of aliens.
The Fourth KindMilla Jojovich, plays Dr. Abigail Tyler, a psychologist who counsels patients who may have been abducted by aliens. These patients are linked by visions and common experiences which reveals the existence of alien life on Earth but questions the reason as to why they are here.
Tense scene with an armed man holding his wife and children captive is interlaced with scripted scenes and documented footage of the actual incident.
The studio tried to make this into a viral success and fails horribly.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
How do you say goodbye to an alien friend?
I suppose it’s dependent on your relationship with the alien in question. Is it an love interest or just a friend? Either way, “I love you” seems to be the universal phrase used to express ones deepest emotion towards another being. In the movie ET, this was conveyed by a simple glowing finger point at the area of the chest that houses the heart. What do you think? Have you ever had to say goodbye to someone dear to you? How did you express that feeling?Have you ever felt like a visitor from another planet? A fish out of water?
Not because I’m black but mostly because I am weird. I have has always felt indifferent to what is considered normal. Maybe that’s because I have always been told that I am not like other people (or as most of the ladies I courted in my youth, guys). Whether it was my goofy behavior as a kid or my despondent attitude in high school, I have always felt out of place everywhere.
Chris is always pretty cool, calm, and collected space oddity. He never flinches to new situations and faces them head on with an iron chin pointed to the skies.

Whenever you find yourself in the woods alone and happen to witness a couple of cute cuddly bear cubs frolicking about you can be damn sure there is a momma bear somewhere nearby. Quietly she stalks as you unknowingly lose your sense of awareness transfixed by just how adorable bear cubs are. You dream of that story where you raise a cub of your own until it comes of age and you have to – with great sorrow—give the bear back to its mother nature.
Years later you return to the same spot where you released the bear into the wild with hopes of catching a glimpse of your old furry friend. Weeks pass and with every visit you lose hope, and then on the last day you see him, however, you're unsure of its identity. The bear slowly approaches. Your first instinct is to back away. You step back but there's something about this bear, "it is you Ol' Boy?" Ol' Roy is name you gave him after the bear one day rummage through a bag of Old Roy dog food and made quite the mess.
Awww, you chuckle at the memory.
You feel its warm breath upon your cheeks. Apparently you daydream way too much. The bear is upon you sniffing your scent.
"Hey, Ol' Boy."
You reach to pet the bear's head, but something happens. The bear backs away and rises to a stance unto his two hind legs. He towers over you now, some two or three feet. You're staring up at him when you feel the warmth of piss streaming down your leg.
The bear reaches out and bats you towards his massive hairy underbelly, and then you feel the comfort of his embrace.
SMACK!
The two bear cubs scamper off as momma bear mauls you to death.
Moral of this tale:
There is always something lurking in the woods, dumbass.
