Knowing how to read is something many of us take for granted... but Newfoundland and Labrador has one of the lowest adult literacy rates in the country. It's something a non-profit called Teachers on Wheels is looking to change. The charity says it has a wait list and needs volunteer tutors to help them out, so they are holding a day-long tutor-training workshop this Saturday, February 8th.
The CBC's Malone Mullin dropped by their offices recently to learn more about the program... and find out how it feels opening up a brand new world for their clients. (Reporter Malone Mullin with executive director Tom Dawe and some volunteers)
* If you think you'd like to be a tutor and help another adult learn to read and write, you can find them online at teachersonwheels.ca.or call 709-738-3975.
