A new study has found that at least half of the tasks in accounting can be completed much faster with generative artificial intelligence (GAI). The study examined the exposure of various occupations to GAI, which can analyse and generate text. The researchers found that 80% of workers in occupations would be affected by GAI. Information-processing roles, including public relations specialists, court reporters, and blockchain engineers are highly exposed. However, the researchers did not predict which jobs would be lost or how fast the change would happen. Many employers are worried about the accuracy and security of GAI.

The year 2023 will be remembered as the year when artificial intelligence disrupted the workforce. However, many people fear being replaced by AI. To make AI less scary at work, it is important to broadcast AI to the team, remind people that AI is an assistant, incorporate it into existing work, and frame AI as a draft-maker, not a decision-maker. Embracing AI can help people do their jobs better and improve their confidence. Human oversight is essential when using AI for customer communication.
